Why in the h.ell would you guys vote in favor of taking a pay cut?

You have to fight tooth and nail to get a good contract and now will just give it up because of a temporary downturn in the industry.

I realize that Northwest and NWA ALPA are in Section 6 negotiations, but why not stall just like the airlines do to you during the good times when they are making money and you want a pay raise?

No, I realize that management likes to stall in good times. We all know it. But, 9-11 really hurt a lot of us, and we do have a sizeable amount of debt to be repaid. I don't think we are at critical stages right now, but if we turn a blind eye and something else happens or we have another economic downturn, then things could get messy. Our guys at Dalpa have people looking at the situation very closely, and have hired people to determine what would be good to give---not everything they want though. Investing in our futures is not a bad thing, and we would get something in return--no doubt. (like a contract extension etc...profit sharing....) Having a large pay gap between us and the next Major does not look good in bad times, and giving back a little might be prudent as long as we get something in return. We want this airline to thrive again someday.....and it will.

Bye Bye--General Lee;)

I came to PCL to get my time and get out. I didn't go there for the money. And you can bet that I will be one of the first one's to walk that picket line when our contract is up. Cause I know we will be striking with this cheap-a.ss management.

<<I came to PCL to get my time and get out.>>

Multiply this statement by 10,000 and you start to see the scope of the problem,

Hey ops you thought you were gonna get in get your time and get out while the getting is good. Well just so you know that the average time being hired at any regional carrier is about 8000 hrs. You can expect 700 hrs a year(if your a go getter of course)about 5-6 more years at pin. HAVE FUN

Yeah it s.ucks being at the cheap airline with a weak union, redneck management, and 18 year-old kids running the place from scheduling to dispatch.

Hi MD80JAD,

From what I've read, the average time of hired guys at JET BLUE, ATA and AIRTRAN are less than 8000 hours.

THe regionals are still hiring many low-time guys, even under 2000 hours. Some even under 1000 hours.

Life is too short to be that unhappy, come to USA Jet you be a Capt in a couple years making around 50-60K, be home probably 20 nights per month. Good chance of DC-9 Capt in 4 years at 70-75K, 156 days off per year.
