You mean all the other pilots picked up on your traits? You don't need them? They sure as sh!t don't need you.

Have a nice life. Just don't bring your infectious attitude over here. Assuming you CAN find another job, we can at least be grateful that my company weeds out guys like you before they get a chance to pollute the environment.

I can earn 65,000 dollars a year inside or out of aviation. I have a side business that brings in about that much anyway. Alaska is not worth my time...


And as for "YANK MCOBB" How do you, as a grown man, think that a masturbation reference is still funny? Do you actually fly people around with a sophomoric, immature attitude like that? You should be ashamed of yourself. What a total loser. You have a nice life too, bending over for the man. I give up, anybody can have my position, it's not at all worth it anymore. I have a wife and family and for 65,000 dollars a year, again it's not worth it. Grow up "Yank". Although if you haven't by now I doubt you ever will you pathetic old man.

Ferlo, I could not have said it any better. Add my name to the list. As a matter of fact, we should start our own pool list at Alaska.. The pool for those of us leaving. I just finished CQ and don't plan on doing another at Alaska Airlines.

Ditto for the insight on Yank as well. Probably not really an Alaska pilot, but a friend of mine who is in the internet business does a great job at putting names with IP addresses. So we will see.......

And as far as ALPA is concerned... they did a great job at negotiating with some very immmature, short sighted people(AS mgmnt.) and they were never presented with anything that resembled an acceptable TA to vote on. The devil is in the details plain and simple and the details were never acceptable, Period........

I can't agree more that something fundamental needs to change in this profession. I'm just not sure that further splintering of unions is the answer...only gives management more groups to whipsaw against each other.

Kevin Garrison (AvWeb) put forth an interesting proposal last month: an all-encompassing aviation union that'd cover a pilot from the first dollar they make flight instructing to the last time they set the parking brake. The concept would be similar to the screen actor's guild, or many of the local building trade unions. Granted, our industry is very different from those. The issues that've driven ALPA vs. RJDC would no doubt crop up again. But such a union could be a valuable tool for uniting all pilots & fostering a culture where incoming pilots expect to be compensated as professionals. It would also be a considerably larger union than any current ones, allowing for decent clout on the Hill. I would add that a necessary component would be a national seniority list that encompassed CFI's, regional pilots, major pilots, etc...it would render the argument about scope and union fairness moot.

This is, of course, rather utopian. But I'd be greatly encouraged to at least see the unions getting together for a summit aimed towards nothing but some strategic thinking about how we can change and better the profession 10, 20, 50 years down the road...a short break from the "tyranny of the now" to envision a better future.

Heck, I'd settle for a good, well-argued thread that hung around here for a while before being supplanted by jetBlue/airtran bashing....

You're absolutely correct. I am not an Alaska pilot. Never claimed to be. I have stated several times here where I work and when I retire (July '05). Go ahead and have your internet buddy come up with my IP address. He11, I'll give you my real one. Stop by sometime. Like I really care what you or anyone else thinks.

I'm out of this business for good in less than 10 weeks. Let me know if you make good on your "threat" of no more CQ at Alaska or if you wilt up like most of the blow-hards on flightinfo.
