US Hajj pilgrims get anti-bias guide
UPI

December 14, 2006

WASHINGTON -- A US Islamic rights group has issued guidelines against discrimination for American Muslims going on Hajj.

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) said Tuesday that it was advising Hajj pilgrims to Mecca "to be aware of their civil and legal rights as airline passengers." The group said that it had also set up toll-free hotline at 1-800-784-7526 "for anyone who believes their rights were violated."

CAIR has also published a pocket guide for Hajj pilgrims entitled Your Rights and Responsibilities as an American Muslim.

"As an airline passenger, you are entitled to courteous, respectful, and non-stigmatizing treatment by airline and security personnel," the group said in its statement Tuesday. "You have the right to complain about treatment that you believe is discriminatory."

American Muslims who had cause to think that they had been "treated in a discriminatory manner" should "ask for the names and ID numbers of all persons involved in the incident. Be sure to write this information down," CAIR said.

The group said that such individuals should also "ask to speak to a supervisor" and inquire whether they had been "singled out" because of their "name, looks, dress, race, ethnicity, faith, or national origin."

"Given the increase in the number of complaints CAIR has received alleging airport profiling of American Muslims, we believe it is important that all those taking part in this year's Hajj be aware of their legal and civil rights," said CAIR communications director Ibrahim Hooper.

Exactly. I always ask the reverse question, goes something like this:

Imam: "Are you questioning me because I'm muslim?"

Airline Security: "Should I not question you becuase you are Muslim?"

Just because you're a Muslim doesn't give you the right to scare the sh!t outta people on a plane, some of us remember what the twin towers looked like jack.

MY guidlines for American Muslims going on Hajj:

Give all praise to Ala.
Purchase one-way ticket.
Embrace the homland and culture of your saviour.
Savor the pre-arranged marriage of your daughter to a man older than yourself.
Share your pride in being muslim with others by sharing your wife with others.
Never return to the USA.....Ever!

Well then, I spose off with my noggin then...

Just remember, unless you are a working crewmember, NO ONE has ANY RIGHT to be onboard an aircraft, and ANY airline can REFUSE to transport you. Just because you paid for a ticket doesnt give you a RIGHT to act like a jacka$$.

"Carrier may refuse to transport or may remove at any point any passenger whose behavior is interfering or has interfered with the safety or comfort of any other passenger or any crew member. Passengers shall discontinue any such behavior immediately upon the request of a crew member."

If you don't like it here, LEAVE! It is SAFETY first, not feelings first.

WTF, man?!! Christians and Jews, who started this country, do not even get to excercise those rights freely. Let me see...crosses must be tucked inside your shirt, but you can wear the standard issue terrorist garb....hmmmm. Say that Isreal has NO RIGHT TO EXIST...but you can pass out Muslim materials...I don't get it.

yes, when the Irish were bombing randomly, american catholics spoke out against such idiotic things the IRA were doing. Where are the american muslims speaking out against whats their brothers and sisters are doing against us???????? where are they? Oh yes, and i beleive when they were looking for the IRA, they were looking for those who were irish, looked irish, and spoke with an irish accent........mmmmmm sounds reasonable right? why is it discrimination when they do that now for those who are muslim.....and not crying out against the violence. They are scared and will not speak out against their religion...... just as a lot of christians are scared to speak out against their religion when they get fanatical about such things as abortion.....gays rights.....and anything other than the missionary position...... something to think about huh?

where do they get that from? no one is "entitled" to any of those things.

Don't even TRY to turn this thread into one of your far-left rants. So far as abortion goes...why is it that groups such as National Right to Life are about to lose their tax-exempt status while Planned Parenthood (America's #1 abortion provider) continues to recieve FEDERAL MONEY from MY taxes when I oppose abortion? Why is it that doctors are by law FORCED to provide abortion referrals? Why is it that a bill requiring abortion providers to inform patients of the risks of an abortion was blocked? Afraid of people finding out the truth of what abortion really is? Why can a 12 year old girl get an abortion without parental consent but not be allowed to see the doctor for a headache without parental consent? Hey, did you hear (look on the American Medical Association website) that women who have abortions are far more likely to contract breast cancer and cervical cancer? Now how about that Race For The Cure stuff?
So far as the gay "rights" goes, puh-lease!! Their "rights" have caused health care to skyrocket (go to the CDC website and see what is THE SINGLE MOST health risk behavior...more than eating fried chicken...more than smoking...yes, HOMOSEXUAL SEX. And now we all have to pay for it. And now employers have another group to meet hiring quotas on....homofaggs. Yeah, they're doing the world SO much good. And how come EVERYTHING revolves around their being gay? BTW, just what "rights" do they want? They have it pretty good in our "everything for everyone no matter what" society. How come when those 2 queers in NJ literally raped that 11 year old boy TO DEATH, it was not a "homosexual" issue? But when someone gets killed and happens to be queer...wow here it comes! Liberals beating their chests and crying for the gay cause. Fact is, religion aside, there is not a single thing good or natural about homosexual behavior.
So it is bad to speak out against things that are plain wrong? That makes a fanatic? It sounds to me like you are one of those who just wants to do whatever feels good regardless of the consequences it has on society. Like it or not, there is something called the Common Good, but I guess that's wrong too.

Twighead, congratulations... I don't think anyone else in this forum has a more appropriate name. Not even me, and I AM a pilot and I AM from Australia.

You're a complete f**king idiot to say something like that. Of course they are entitled to courteous and respectful treatment. All of our passengers are. Their business and loyalty are the reason that you take home a paycheck.

What do you think, TWIGHEAD??? Do you think passengers should expect discourteous, disrespectful and stigmatic treatment? Geez I'm glad your not the one in charge of the business planning at my airline, you moron.

He's not the only one either. I know everyone's still smarting from 9/11. And, obviously we want to do everything we can to stop anything like that happening again. That definately includes racial profiling. We know that there are Islamic fanatics out there who mean harm to the United States, the UK, Europe and the rest of the western world. We SHOULD engage in extra security screening and the like. But in my opinion, once they've been thoroughly screened and check out ok then they should be treated just like any other passenger, not like some sort of second class citizen to be treated with disrespect. Don't forget that there are millions of law-obiding, peace loving Muslims who have no intention of doing us harm.

Lets screen carefully and weed out the ones who do, and leave the ones who don't to get on with their lives. Just trying to open some of your eyes a little bit...

If you want to stick it to them, call this number. Encourage others to call it. Write it down in bathroom stalls. Someone is footing the bill for this number. The more money they spend on the 800 number, the less money they have to purchase bomb making material.
