I'm commuting out of ORD and so far my wife has been able to drop me off at the airport, but that won't always work. I would like to avoid the $30 cab/shuttle ride one-way, does anyone have a good/cheap way to the airport? The blue line isn't an option, because I'm out in the suburbs......Thanks

where in the burbs? Metra has a stop at ORD.

talk to the hotels crews use and see if you could park there (I know the Radisson in MEM would let you park there for $5/day and ride their shuttle).

or

be a man and tell your wife to suck it up! :p

I commute out of ORD from McHenry County. I take the Van Galder bus from Crystal Lake. They have stops at McHenry, CL, and Elgin. You can also get a parking pass from the US AIR people. I think it's around $200 every six months.

I live in Wheeling now, but we will probably be moving out towards Round Lake by the end of the year...only way to afford a place to live in this place

Do you work for an airline? Check with the DoubleTree North on Touhy and Mannheim. I parked there for the month waiting for my ORD pass from Continental, and it cost me $48. Busses every 30 minutes, starting very early.

FlyChicaga: Thanks for the tip! I'm only an occasional ORD commuter since I usually go MKE. Do they charge monthy, weekly, or daily?

Monthly.

you want a tip

dont commute to ORD

If a chicken farts in chicago, their will be delays

HAVE FUN IN ORD NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you lived above the "Cheddar Curtain" (Wisconsin) the drive would be longer, but it sure would be cheaper. You might be able to afford a second car. I'm paying $575 in Kenosha, the drive is 1 hour, give or take. I might be able to live in Wheeling for $1000 or so if I had dirt cheap transportation. I know, I know, $1000 probably doesn't get you much in Wheeling. Check out Carol Stream, Des Plaines, Mt. Prospect, Buffalo Grove, or like the other dude was saying, somewhere along the Metra Line up toward Antioch.

I would like to find a 'decent' place (for a wife and babgy too) a little closer to ORD, like on the west side for under $850. I'm out of my head to think I might find something, but you never know. Anybody have any suggestions?

try mchenry county right off (exits past barrington road) of i-90 (just 30 min to airport via interstate).
