For the kids on this website that claim to be pilots....:D

New law bans impersonating of pilots

CHICAGO (AP) - A bill signed by Gov. Rod Blagojevich Thursday makes it
illegal to impersonate a pilot at Illinois airports.

Blagojevich said the new law should increase airport safety and help prevent
terrorist attacks. He also called on federal officials to crack down on easy
access to pilots' uniforms over the Internet.

The legislation, sponsored by state Sen. Kirk Dillard, R-Hinsdale, and Rep.
Tom Cross, R-Oswego, was prompted by an investigation by the Chicago
television station CLTV that found it was easy to obtain uniforms on the
Internet without providing proof that the consumer worked for an airline.

Under the measure, impersonation of a pilot, airline or airport employee or
contractor in restricted areas of airports is a felony punishable by one to
three years in prison.

It also outlaws anyone from falsely claiming to be a pilot or other airport
employee or contractor to get a uniform or other form of airport or airline
identification.

U.S. Senators Dick Durbin and Barack Obama have urged Congress and the
Transportation Security Administration to investigate the easy availability
of commercial airline pilot uniforms online.

A separate bill Blagojevich signed Thursday upgrades the penalty for
trespassing in an airport's restricted areas from a misdemeanor to a felony.
Both laws take effect Jan. 1.

The bills are HB1559 and HB 349.

Why cant Rod do something good for our state. Thank god that he will not win the next election.

uh yeah ROD, telling terrorists that it's illegal to impersonate a pilot while you are on your way to blow up the plane will surely stop the attack...what a tard.

I have a closet full of old airline uniforms. Will that be considered contraband? Can I smuggle them over state-lines?

I guess Ebay is out of the question...

Hate to say it but security guards, school bus drivers, nautical deck hands and some doormen wear the same shirt as do pilots. That goes for the epaulets too. I highly doubt that you can easily regulate and prohibt these shirts from being sold outside of authorized uniform dealers.

It sort of sounds like a good idea, but its just another politician trying to make a name for himself.

Now, as for acquiring a badge and some wings, those may be more difficult to come by.

TERRORISTS! Why do they hate our freedom?

And what the hell is that thing in your avatar?

Oops! Guess the jig's up. See you all. It's been real... :p TC

Are the plastic wings that say "Future Airline Pilot" banned? How am I ever going to explain this to the guy I fly with? It's a good thing we don't go to Illinois very often.
