Ok, Im about to send them some money to start their online degree. I have researched and it seems pretty good. Im going to do the BS in Aviation. Can anyone tell me about their experiences with this university? Also I was thinking about just getting the B.A. degree in liberal studies. I dont care what my degree is in, I just want the piece of paper. I am looking to do this as quickly as possible. I have a total of 70 credits with my ratings. Would it be quicker do get the B.A. instead of the aviation B.S. ?

I finished my degree about 6 years ago now from TESC. It was a great program and I would highly reccomend it to anyone. I dont know which major would be quicker, but if it is the same time, I would go with the Liberal Arts degree. For flying, It really doesnt matter what your degree is in, and the Liberal Arts degree would be better to have in any other field outside of aviation. Good Luck!!!

Have you looked into Excelsior College liberal arts program? They give you credit for your ratings as well. Not sure how much credit though - I ended up using credits in other areas. Just finished up a degree in liberal arts and couldnt have been more happy with them. Good luck with whatever you do.:)

I did the Edison Degree in 1992 and then was able to get right in to ERAU to do the Masters.

Edison was the best thing to happen to me for my degree and I would highly recommend them.

If you have 70 credits and your ratings, I would think it would clearly be quicker to get the BSAST Degree.

I finished Thomas Edison in 95 w/ a Business degree. It was a good experience for me. It really worked out well. I also heard that Embry Riddle had a good Aviation program that which was similar to Thomas Edison's where you don't physically have to attend. Although, that might be a bit pricey.

Hey guys, good post. I have "started" looking into TESC several times, but haven't had the drive to get it in motion yet. Can any of you tell me how long each class actually takes? I understand it's directly related to your time, but say if I were to spend an hour at a sitting, three or four times a week, would that get me anywhere? I'd like to really dive in, but a single pilot corporate gig along-side of a 135 outfit only leaves so much time. I know. . . excuses. . . excuses. Anyway, the info will be greatly appreciated!.

Thanks,

Kevin

You don't actually "take" classes at Edison. You enroll at any college that you can attend and take traditional classes just like a normal semester. When you complete the class, your transcript is sent to Edison and is is put on your Edison transcript. When you complete the degree requirements, you graduate.

However, you can also thke CLEP tests, and get credit for life experiance, ratings, military courses etc.

Really, the best thing is to contact them for all the skinny.

Hope this helps.

No wonder I was confused while searching for Edison on Google. I started to see other schools who were referencing Edison but I couldn't find any aviation programs at Edison..

They do have an B.S. in aviation. You get 45 credits for having your ATP. Then you transfer any other credits from other colleges. You also can take their online courses, where you do not have to physically attend. I have found it easier and cheaper to take a few classes at the local community college when able and do the rest online at Thomas Edison.
