Just wanted to let you know GL is showing, by use of this forum, that he is taking a stand that is Anti USAir/Delta Merger.

And, since he owns such a large stake in the Bankrupt Company it looks like his stance will indeed sway all the creditors and keep Delta from being acquired.

Grog didn't like it when I said he sounded retarded on beer. That was bad of me. Hey, he could be a swell guy. He probably is. :)

Bye Bye--General Lee

Well, it only seems fair that if you guys waste entire threads on Boyd I get to waste them on other useless things. Besides, if I don't up my post counts I'll never catch either of you guys.

Cheers boys! Someday we'll laugh about this. Then again, maybe not....

General

You are proud of your company and it's roots and it is great. May the Delta family continue and we all do wish you the best. My only advice is to some how get rid of 737tool. Oh well, we know he is just a skycap pretending to be a pilot here anyway. Good luck, I do believe you care.

I think the most interesting creditor in all this is the Pilot's Union. Looks like you might hold a trump card afterall. I wonder if Parker knows that? Ah, he don't care; h3ll, the stock's at $60!

Interesting days ahead.

Don't start up with that white zone s**t. This is because I didn't have the abortion...

Friggin best movie ever, but I digress... Lets Merge these Pigs come on!

Hey Whiskey, you think GL will be junior to you at the new Delta?

JR to me?? His new flight info screen name will be General Lee sit reserve:laugh:

Seriously none of us knows what the outcome will be. I am enjoying bustin their nuggets over this because of their extremely arrogant attitiude. Have you noticed how they feel that the world revolves around them??

WD.

Yeah, gotta admit thats why I started this thread I'm kinda over the whole merger thing but these guys are a going a little overboard with their Anti threads, I swear that lately you'd think FltInfo was owned by DALPA and GL is the communications sub-chair of message boards for anti merger related issues.

Oh, and I just want to add: Frottage! Delta's Bagpiping us!!!

It Is New So We Must Fear It....

Uh....no.

PHXFLYR:cool:

General Lee and the rest of the Delta group will be assimilated!!!

WD:smash:

I guess the only good point that I can find in all of this, is that if we are bought by US Air, at least we will have the benefit of knowing Air Wisconsin will be looking for another carrier to feed for! Better make sure that resume is updated WD, you'll be looking for another job real soon!
I sure hope them luck, seems they're going to need it!:uzi:

737

Ok after all, its just flaimbait

I see this turning into a PFT arguement.

Pilot union chief blasts US Airways' merger 'assault'
Carriers rally workers to their causes, report says some bondholders backing deal

By RUSSELL GRANTHAM
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Published on: 11/22/06 The head of Delta Air Lines' powerful pilots union says he doubts a "misguided" merger proposed by US Airways will work as well as advertised and could lead to harsh cutbacks.
"Should this merger be as misguided and as poor an idea as I currently believe it to be, then I will deploy every available resource to stop it," Lee Moak, chairman of Delta's Air Line Pilots Association unit, said in his first comments on the proposed merger.
Moak, in a letter to Delta pilots, said late Tuesday that the $8.8 billion buyout offer "appears to lack any substantial benefit for Delta, its employees, our communities, or our customers."
Moak's letter came the same day US Airways told its own employees that its buyout offer is "just better" than Delta's standalone recovery plan.
Meanwhile, Delta workers distributed anti-merger buttons proclaiming their desire to "Keep Delta My Delta."
Wednesday's edition of the Wall Street Journal reported that some Delta bondholders are banding together in support of the US Airways bid, which would have to win favor of at least some of Delta's big bankruptcy creditors to succeed.
The Journal report said Delta bondholders held conference calls Tuesday with Deutsche Bank and Lehman Brothers in an effort to form a group that could influence the larger creditors.
The report, citing people familiar with the situation, said the airline's official committee of unsecured creditors, which includes big creditors such as Boeing and major banks, is generally backing Delta management so far.
US Airways announced the offer last week after being rebuffed privately by Delta management, hoping to win enough creditor support to make the deal happen.
ALPA is a member of the main creditor committee in Delta's bankruptcy case, and it also would be heavily involved in sticky merger integration issues -- chiefly the blending of pilot seniority lists and work rules.
In his letter to pilots, Moak said the union is reviewing US Airways' proposal and hasn't taken an official position. But he voiced skepticism on numerous points. Moak noted that US Airways is still in the process of a merger with America West, a union that is "far from settled." He said regulatory approval could be tough to get given that the two airlines' biggest hubs, Atlanta and Charlotte, are only 250 miles apart.
Moak also said "synergies" touted by US Airways will require deep cutbacks. "Further, I am skeptical that many of these 'synergies' are anywhere near as attractive as US Airways would like Wall Street and our creditors to believe."
Moak, whose union has taken deep pay cuts as part of Delta's restructuring, said "we find ourselves in the unusual ... position of being on common ground with our management as our company comes under assault."
Other Delta workers also rallied around the cause of independence. Members of the airline's board advisory council began handing out the "Keep Delta My Delta" buttons on Tuesday and said thay also plan wristbands and t-shirts.
"These things are going over like crazy," said safety manager Christopher Muise, who helped hand out buttons at the airline's headquarters and at Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport until they ran out.
"We're doing this to show unity and support that we want Delta to remain in Delta control," said Muise, a member of the Delta Board Council, which represents employees as nonvoting members of Delta's board of directors.
US Airways, based near Phoenix, also sought to whip up employee support, issuing the first in what it said will be a series of merger newsletters called "For the Record."
"Our proposal is just better. For everyone," Tuesday's newsletter said.
US Airways said in its newsletter to employees Tuesday that the real question people should be asking is what provides the most value to Delta's creditors.
"Delta's standalone plan — no matter how good it may be — cannot possibly offer an expanded route network, more destinations and a better frequent flier program," US Airways said.
It also touted reaction to its buyout proposal on Wall Street, where both US Airways shares and Delta bond values are up since the offer was announced.
US Airways is still trying to set up a formal meeting with Delta's creditors, spokesman Phil Gee said Tuesday. Adding to the uncertainty surrounding the deal, Gee said the airline still has not decided where a combined US Airways-Delta would be based. Regulatory hurdles also would not to be overcome. [sic]
US Airways' public takeover bid proposes to give Delta's creditors $4 billion in cash and roughly $4.8 billion worth of US Airways stock, while cutting overall flying by the combined airlines by about 10 percent. America West took over US Airways as it exited a Chapter 11 reorganization in September 2005 and assumed its name.
Executives at Delta, which entered Chapter 11 proceedings about the same time, have said they will present a reorganization plan to creditors next month to remain independent. Some insiders and experts expect the company to be worth about $10 billion to $12 billion if it emerges next year from bankruptcy as a stand-alone airline.

This is part of the actual WSJ article about those bondholders that MAY form a splinter group:

"In conference calls yesteday with Deutsche Bank AG and Leman Brothers, bondholders were urged to band together to pressure Delta--which is under BK court protection--to fully consider the hostile bid from USAirways. The effort by both banks, which are Delta creditors, is aimed at creating a second group of crediotrs with some say in the airline's restructuring. Currently, the resturcturing ultimately must be approved by the official committee of unsecured creditors, which is dominated by much larger creditors."

"The outcome of the meetings wasn't immediately clear, and it remains to be seen how much leverage a splinter group could have in the takeover fight and it's strategy for exerting influence. The bondholders being pitched to combine forces represent 30% of the total $16 billion-18 billion claim that will eventually serve as the basis for dolling out equity in post BK Delta."

"The varied interests of individual creditors are likely to be a significant factor. Boeing Co., for example, is a long standing seller of aircraft to Delta, while USAirways is leaning towards Airbus. Other committee members include U.S. Bancorp, the PBGC, Coca Cola, and Fidelity." (also DALPA)

"The creation of an ad hoc creditor group in large BK cases isn't unusual, but some executives and employee groups have critisized such investors for their short term interests, rather than looking out for the longer range good of employees and companies trying to restructure."

"Delta CFO Ed Bastain said in an interview Friday that Delta believes it's plan to emerge as a stand alone company will prove superior to USAirways' offer, especially in light of the "transaction risks" inherent in a merger plan. A Delta spokewomen yesterday said Mr Bastian's comments still stood."

Those were things left out of the other blurbs. Buy a copy of today's WSJ and see for yourself. Again, you can find the article on page A3 under "Some Delta Bondholders Try to Form Splinter Group."

This is crazy. How could eliminating a NYC Shuttle, and half of the flights from LGA to GSO, GSP, CHS, RDU, etc be a good thing? Oh, you want to give it to actual LCCs? Oh, Southwest can't wait to fly to Wilmington, NC from LGA.... Or Myrtle Beach from LGA, etc.... They won't hit half of those cities, and those cities will have half of the flights and be twice as expensive. Many cities will lose service all together maybe. Nah, Parker is on drugs... And a better frequent flyer program? Huh? Squeezing twice the people into one plan is better? Riiiiight. Overlap is key here. USAir and AWA had virtually NO overlap. USAir and DL have lots and lots of overlap. That won't work, and the DOJ and Congress didn't allow UAL and USAir to merge due to Washington DC overlap. We have a lot more.

ALPA, Continental, Southwest weigh in on Delta merger

Pacific Business News (Honolulu) - 9:13 PM HAST Tuesday

US Airways has mailed pamphlets to Delta Air Lines employees promoting merger, Continental Airlines warns it may need to get into the merger act, and Southwest Airlines hints at demands before it sits still for mergers.
These developments, along with fresh speculation about a merger involving United Airlines, have been set off by an offer to merge with Delta that Delta management doesn't even want.

These developments, along with fresh speculation about a merger involving United Airlines, have been set off by an offer to merge with Delta that Delta management doesn't even want.

The only merger on the table is the one US Airways responded by mailing a newsletter to Delta employees. "We don't believe that Delta's claim that their stand-alone plan will somehow provide more value holds water," the mailing said. "Delta's stand-alone plan -- no matter how good it may be -- cannot possibly offer an expanded route network, more destinations and a better frequent flier program."
The Air Line Pilots Association weighed in against the merger Tuesday and said it would help Delta management fight it.
Continental Airlines CEO Larry Kellner, meanwhile, has made it clear he's watching the merger environment closely despite a preference for keeping Continental independent.
"If the landscape of the U.S. airline industry does indeed change," he said in a message to employees, "we'll do what we need to do to act in the best interests of you, our customers, our shareholders and the communities we serve."
Southwest Airlines sent word to the industry Tuesday that if US Airways and Delta do agree to merge, Southwest will want more access to U.S. East airports as a condition for not opposing the deal.
United Airlines declined comment on merger speculation, though its chief executive has for years given speeches calling for industry consolidation.

You know I agree with you General we should leave you on your own and go with UAL or NWA where the overlap won't be such a problem. This way you won't be so upset and maybe you guys won't bleed to death. None of us over here would want you guys to be tainted with us no culture types!

General....Go to the kitchen. get a brown paper lunch bag out of the cabinet.
Open the bag, sit down, place it over your nose and mouth and breath slooowwwwly. Now that you are no longer hyperventilating, some facts on LGA. Should (and that's a very big should) this deal go through the only thing Parker said he would get rid of that had anything to do with LGA was one of the shuttle operations. No where did he mention the other cities. Anyway I'm sure those flights are RJ flights anyway and not true mainline service. So sit down, relax and go gnaw on a drumstick.

Have a nice Thanksgiving

Still waiting for my red button

General why don't you get involved in your union and make a differance? Or is Flight info the only place you think people will listen to you? Let it go, and welcome to the ride!
