This from the Post-Gazette:
"Roland Herwig, Federal Aviation Administration spokesman, said the plane had a problem with the autopilot system. He said the problem would not have been noticed by passengers."
This from the Lexington TV:
The American Airlines jet hit the runway just before 9:30 p.m. Officials say flight 3629 landed without incident after having mechanical problems during it's flight from Dallas-Fort Worth, to Pittsburgh. Passengers say it was a frightening flight.
"Everything was going fine, we were about a half hour from what we thought was landing," said one passenger. "And they said to get your seatbelts on and then the plane just started rolling back and forth a couple of times and they started teaching us the brace positions and said we were going to divert to Louisville and then they changed it to Lexington. Um...there was lots of people hugging and kissing."
