What is your exact religion?

I am Non-Denominational, and for the same reason that MidnightFlyer summed up nicely in his first paragraph regarding the same issue.

Take sex for example. every body in the world, I don't care what you say, has a basic need for sex. Just look at the majority of catholic priests. Not only are they having sex, but they are homo's.

Most people in the world believe in a supreme being of some sort. But behind closed doors, people will naturally satisfy their needs as nature calls. Does that mean they're not christian? NO. But in real legit religions, God does not ask us or expect us to do unrelistic things.

My best friend is mormon. He says mormons aren't allowed to pleasure themselves. I've finially dragged the truth out of that bonehead and he's admitted to spanking the monkey since he discovered that he could do it.
I guarantee you rico, you did it when you were 16 and probably still do it on overnights today. Everybody does.

But if you think God intended sexuality to be used like it is today with no bounds, no age limits, with and when whomever you want, pornography, abuse, teen-pregnancy, or unwed pregnancy at all, sexual diseases, then you are insane.

Your comment about in real "legit religions God doesn't ask or expect us to do unrealistic things" is ....wow....well I can hardly believe someone would actaully think this. So in other words God doesn't care what you do....just believe in Him....right? NOT. Who will define what is "unrealistic" YOU?.......society? geeeez look around you buddy and see how things are under the direction of the natural man. If that is what you call religion then I am athiest.

You say you believe in the Bible and that is all you need.....have you actaully READ it? Because if you have you would know that that kind of statement is TOTALLY against everything taught in it.

If you think you can stroll around life "satisfying" all you most base urges, living with no real self-control then toss out the occasional "I believe in the Bible" statements then you are living in some serious cartoon land.

Practice what you preach.....read that book you keep referring to. It will take you less than 10 minutes to find how off the mark you are. Provided you search honestly.

It is pretty funny to see you so strongly attack other people who don't think in your strange way. Calling what others believe "bull$$hit" is real classy.

Will you take a moment to respond to my comment on page 10? Shouldn't a non-profit organization be financially transparent to it's members, and other tax payers since they are claiming a tax exempt status?

It certainly seems to me if it's the "giving" that's an important part, it shouldn't matter where the giving is done.

I've received 4 or 5 PM's from LDS members complaining about it, saying its disrespectful, and is poking fun at your religion, and I need take it down.

See? That's the part I don't get. 1st Amendment rights are easy and convenient when they support your view. It's a double standard to reject the same freedoms when they don't merge with your views.

I never said it wasn't a sacred thing. Just because I had $exual relations in my past with a mormon girl dosent mean I don't think it was sacred. She was my girlfriend and we loved one another. Also, I never said that God intended for sex to have no bounds, with whomever & wherever, porn, etc.. Again, you're putting words in my mouth; all I said was that all people have basic needs. Behind closed doors, EVERYBODY is different than how they represent themselves in public or in front of people in the church. I'm willing to bet that you had sexual relations with a woman other than your wife and I'm willing to bet that you spanked the monkey during adolescence and you spank it on a regular basis today. I'm tired of that redicilous "I can't, I'm mormon" mentality. It's almost like you're suggesting the world owes you brownie points or something because you portray the image of being very pure and sinless. By not being bound to the unrealistic restraints of a man made religion (such as mormonism), I'm able to focus on learning the Bible, Faith, and praising the Lord instead of worrying about breaking some silly unrealistic law that my religion is hung up on.

Of course I read the bible. My question is, do you? In fact, I question how important you even view the Bible to begin with, as compared to the book of mormon. "Mormons reject the Bible: "Fools think the Bible is enough" 2 Nephi 29:6 That's a direct quote. A true Christian needs nothing more than the Bible.


Rico, you're always saying how mormons will never be caught putting down or critisizing other religions, but go back and read in your "mormon bible" or whatever, where it talks about the 3 levels of Heaven you guys have and how non mormons will be stuck in some "lower level" of Heaven (terrestrial, I think is how you guys refer to it). So if us Christian "non believers" are in terrestrail Heaven, we don't get to go up to a higher level of Heaven until we give in and are converted by one of the Mormons that are up there for the purpose of converting lost souls? That is insulting my intelligence. How stupid do you think we are? That sends shivers down my spine thinking that people are actually believing in this and you say this religion is the fastest growing religion in the world? WTF?? You say you guys never put down another religion, but saying that non-mormons will never get up into regular Heaven is putting us in a lower class than you, and I consider that a put down.
At least in my religion, we believe that as long as you believe in God, and that Jesus Christ died for our sins, you will be in Heaven, right beside me. Simple as that.

That attitude (although not adopted by me), will take me all the way to Heaven if you want to get technical about it.

Open up your King James Version Bible and turn to Matthew 12:31:

"Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men."

The ONLY thing that will keep you from getting into Heaven is blasphemy of the Holy Spirit. I don't know how you guys can add all this extra fluff and exceptions to it, when its clearly states in the KJV Bible otherwise.

And I've never been given any solid reason why I should think that Joseph Smith (born in 1805) was sent here by God.

If he was truly a holy figure, why would he have been arrested multiple times (4 times in the the short years leading up to the founding of the church) for charges including fraud? That doesn't sound like the holy kind of leader I'd want 'discovering' my religion. I know my Savior Jesus was never arrested for fraud, and mockingly called "The Glass Looker".

Furthermore, why would God, if he wanted his work to continue here on Earth (past his Bible) pick someone with such a questionable and shady past as Joseph Smith? You'd think there'd be better choices out there. The answer is easy, God did NOT choose Joseph Smith. Joseph Smith chose Joseph Smith.

And what's terribly sad is that your church aknowledges his arrests, but puts such a spin on it, that you people don't question it or choose to accept whats obvious right in front of your faces.

I’m sorry you feel that way. I was hoping to get some (serious) answers, because whether you believe it or not, I’m open for discussions and I’m always willing to learn from other people.

Then again, if you feel attacked and don’t feel like responding anymore, that’s fine I respect that.

It just strikes me that you choose to reject one of the most important things which is that salvation comes thru Christ and only thru him !! not some crazy (with all due respect) dude who claim to be in touch with god and acting on his behalf (is that how you spell it?

Let me tell you what I think. God is powerful enough to talk to you directly if he want to!!! He doesn’t need another dude to tell you what he has to tell you and all the other Mormons don’t you think!

I believe in God, I believe in Jesus and there for I’m saved. Other then that I know that god is powerful enough to let me know directly whether he agrees or disagrees with my believes and behaviors.

I can go to a catholic church on Sunday and to a protestant church the week after, it doesn’t matter. Do I like the fact that the catholic church deliberately left out some books in the bible ? no I don’t but I don’t care for the above mentioned reason.

Re the whole sex thing: I never felt bad about. With me another 2342323.000.000 Christians (and Mormons)… So now Im only going to heaven level 1 instead of 2 ??? yeah right….

We all know that the church refused to acknowledge the importance of women 2000 years ago…. Who knows that way back when the Christian church was voting on what books to use for the bible and what books not to use, they left out parts where it says it’s a great thing to have sex all the time!

On top off that:

christianity has chanced over the years. The way we practice Christianity nowadays is nowhere near the way they practiced Christianity 2 year AC.

Having condoms (and using them) chances a lot if you ask me. Even the Vatican will acknowledge this.

I'm not Mormon, I'm actually Jewish by birth, but in the early 1990s when religion came to the USSR like ants to a picnic, I had the chance to see and investigate every religion imaginable, all within a very short period of time. I found several things interesting about the LDS church. Much of the doctrine you have all discussed has bits of truth in it, but it is only partially true. The reason, I think, why you are not getting adequate responses or answers to your queries, is because the internet is not really the best place to have a serious discussion about something that to many is so important, and neither is the cockpit. You are not going to find the intellectual answers to doctrinal questions here, especially if all you are looking for is proof that you are "right" in your assertions.

As far as where the money goes, I think that is evident. There are buildings all over the world that are built and paid for by the church, missionaries in foreign countries that are able to go on missions because of the missionary fund who otherwise would not be able to afford it, humanitarian efforts, church publications, etc. There is a general accounting summary given during General Conference twice a year, and I don't think that their accounting is not a secret.

I find myself coming to the defense of the LDS church because of the work they did in Russia, especially when compared to the many other religions there at the time. Nearly every other religion, the Russian Orthodox Church, the Jehovah's Witnesses, the many of the born again churches all had specific "talking points" against the Mormons. I found this interesting, because in my experience, whenever something is warned against, it is either really, really bad, or there is something really, really good about it. So, I sought it out. I was impressed with the hope they brought to many in my country who had lost hope at the time. I was impressed with the emphasis on family and on Jesus Christ. I was also impressed with the desire of their members (although few in number at the time) to be better people and make the world a better place. I was also surprised at the amount of time their missionaries spent on service-related activities such as working in orphanages, teaching English, and doing physical labor, while missionaries of other churches were spending all their free time acting as tourists.

While I am not a Mormon, I have been amazed at the courage displayed by my friends in Russia who became Mormon. Many of them lost their jobs, were disowned by their families, and had to find a new circle of friends. It was not an easy choice, but they believed in their hearts that they had found truth, and so they acted on it. They inspire me, and maybe someday I will have their courage. The same is true for my friends in the US who are Mormon.

Anyway, for those of you that have made up your mind about the church, pro or con, good for you. But let the rest decide. There is nothing to gain by this ridiculous arguing, quoting scripture, and attempts at convincing those who are Mormon that they are wrong. It's childish, and it's making you look like schoolyard bullies.
