So how do you think Bush would have responded?
We do have a similar incident under his administration:

My recollection, the Bush administration’s response to richard reid (aka American Airlines shoe bomber) was to make us all remove our shoes while going through security.

And reid is currently at the Florence, CO SuperMax prison.
He was sentenced to life imprisonment on each of the three charges, 20 years imprisonment on four other charges, and 30 years on four other counts, to be served consecutively, followed by five years of supervised release. Eight fines of $250,000, restitution of $298.17, and $5,784,800 special assessment were imposed. There is no parole in the federal prison system.

So this guy will probably get a similar sentence. And yes we as taxpayers pay for him as we pay for reid and all other "evil doers".

My point: It doesn't matter what administration is in charge, we are rewarded/penalized with poorly thought out policy action.

Well, Reagan may have done things differently.

Solution: At the minimum, offer intelligent, well thought out suggestions and opinions to your representatives as well as to those who chair the appropriate committees, i.e.: Homeland Security and Government
Affairs Committee

Yeah; that's true-i'm pretty pissed about the seals getting in trouble for giving that guy a busted lip.

The SEALS didn't get in trouble. Have faith in the UCMJ. They were smart to request Courts Martial rather than cop a plea. Do think there will be enough evidence for a United States military Courts Martial to convict these guys during a war? I know people have issues with due process but give it a chance. That's part of who we are and why we continue the fight.
