I interviewed last week for my dream job. They said it will be next week when we know. I could have done a lot better in the interview but I made it through the day. Thinking it over there are countless items that I should have answered different. In my opinion the sim went ok (I think I got an above average score). On the tech I probably was a little below average in some parts but I did well in other parts. The Hr was easy because it came from my heart, I really want this job. The ATP written I think I got a 90%-86%. In the other part of the interview, think I stood back and observed a little too much. I did have great attitude the whole time and actually enjoyed the interview. The other interviewees where fun to talk with share stories with. The biggest thing that I had going for me was that I (as usual) keep a positive attitude even when i was asked a few questions that I didn't know. But I knew excactly where to look them up. I did change two answers on the ATP that were right then I second guessed myself. I should have known better.
Now I am just waiting......... This is my 3rd interview and I am in the pool at another airline but this one I have always wanted. Critiquing myself and how I should have answered some itmes different even the easy things. I would give myself about a 50% - 60% that they offer my a spot in ground school. And I wait and wait......

Your dream job is a $17,000 year 50 seat career killer job?

Yikes!

Quote from Brett Hull...

JUST WHAT THE HELL I WAS THINKING...DREAM JOB MY ASS. WTF!!!!!

Go back to school and pay attention... wish i would've done the same. would've made a hell lot more money, and been at home much much more.

whatever. dream job, does it even exist? it's called work for a reason you f'n clowns

Don't listen to them.

Enjoy the ride...

You interviewed with SkyWest, right? A good attitude seems to go a long way in the interview, at least as much as getting all the answers correct. Remember, they want people who they think are trainable and smart, but even the "smartest" pilot can blow the interview if they think you'll be a drag to sit two feet away from for four days straight. Good luck, and try not to chew down all your nails... A friend of mine interviewed a few weeks ago, and it took the full ten days for the fedex to arrive.

Yeah, it was SkyWest. I was very impressed with the operation they have there. For me it is the absolute dream job, I would like to do a career there. The stability, people and diverse flying really attract me to them. They asked people not to post gouges so I will respect that but the CRM was interesting to say the least. I hope that the good word comes.

Then you are doing exactly what all regional managments want us to do turn on each other. Its good to know that you dont care about helping your fellow pilots out. Thanks

I interviewed recently. It took two weeks to the day for the answer (unfortuantely bad news) to arrive. Good luck.

Did they say anything about how many they are planning to hire this year at the interview???? I need my man to upgrade, ya know! Thanks and good luck!

Punkpilot-

If you are prepared for an interview and smart enough for the job, that will come out.... I dont think you should need a full gouge in order to put your best foot forward.

My $.02
Good luck in your search...

I do see your point but it has nothing to do with being lazy or wanting an easy way out. In my short stint as an airline pilot I have seen that the only way we can change things is if we stick together. And why wouldnt you want to help pilots get on to boost your senority? Its win win you can make good contacts your helping other pilots and you are helping yourself.

Dont tell me you didnt use the "study guides" the rest of us used when we were in class together.

Good luck to you too.

The stated reason for not wanting interviewees to post detailed gouges is that they have had problems with some of the past newhires, who it became apparent down the road would not have made it through the "pilot" part of the interview without substantial gouge. The previous post was right, if you know what you should know given your time and experience level, you should do fine. And while it might seem nice to get as many people hired below you as possible, they are going to hire one way or another. Why increase the dumb*** level at the company by helping people who have no business even getting past security?

Thats what a well trained interview staff should be for. If they were able to get by the companies managment radar under a facade then power to them they are not as dumb as you make them sound.

........................................................... dude sorry, my bad.

Keep on keep'n on!

Yeah cause there are a lot of 145's over there. Here is some advice for you: don't be dumb.

Well, I was wondering when this thread was going to turn negative.

I agree that a good interview staff would "weed out" the week applicants. The gouges are great to use and I used a few to study for the interview. While we talk about the interviewers interviewing for the level of flying they are doing we got a lot more indepth. I thought that they did do a good job finding what I was too nervous to answer and I felt that I did say "I don't know, but I know where to look it up," a few too many times.

I'm not trying to be negative with you. I guess it is coming out that way. Just dont be managments whipping boy.

Guys, lay off. Its not the 17,000 first year pay that makes it a dream job for someone. It is a career, a lifestyle and doing something that you love everyday when you get out of bed. Yeah, first year pay sucks. And second year, too. However, once you get to the left seat $60,000/yr working 3 or 4 days a week aint bad! There are guys I fly with making well over 100,000/year --- And I garuantee you they didnt even make 17,000 their first year. Not to mention, if you aspire to ever fly for American, Delta, United, USAir, Southwest or even Airtran - and they will all hire again one day - you need to start at the bottom. It is not his, or anyones fault that the pay is what it is. We all need to fight together to change that one day, but for now, it is what it is. And all you guys that knock someone for saying they are excited to get their RJ job, or looking forward to getting one in the future......go look in the mirror. I'm willing to bet you took the same job for $20/hr once too. As did most of the non-military pilots at EVERY major airline.(Gen Lee included) Lets knock off the SJS bull-crap.

Flame Away cinics!

I was excited for my flying job too, although I looked at it more like a first step towards my dream job. Not sure what that dream looks like anymore, but I just keep plugging along like the rest of you.

Should get news this week

Waiting with you, think should hear later this week since the class starts June 5th. Was a long day but everyone there was really friendly and seemed happy to be there. I am really excited too, I know how you feel. Hope to see you in SLC soon, I'll give you a call when I get the news.

Oh my god you spelled week (weak) wrong. You are so dumb how do you fly planes. You should go back to elementary school and learn how to spell... WOW, don't ever post on here unless you spell check and recheck you post at least three times.

HAHA

Everyone,
SkyWest is my first step. I am absolutely thrilled to hopefully be in the 121 system. In regaurds to the money: everyone starts at the bottom, but SkyWest is in my opinion the best Regional out there to start with. I would even enjoy a career there if possible. Everyone I met was great.

Prop,
Yeah, I really enjoyed the day. I have played it back in my head over and over and I should have answered questions different. I am thinking that today or tomorrow will be the day to get the stuff. Thinking back about the CRM things should have gone different. But that is life. Talk to you soon.

Thowe,
Sur i no thate pilotes cain't spelle butt thate ise howe we R. Later.
