Just imagine how UAL feels? WN is going to fight with the New F9 probably doubling or tripling our flight into DEN. The real loser may be UAL. Now they are going to lose even more money. Instead of a 2 carrier hub, they are faced with the same 3 carrier hub, but two of the participants are going to duke it out and the bloody carrier may be UAL.

Imagine:

If UAL were to drawdown DEN, via selling WN some gates. WN would get what they really wanted with the F9 deal (probably cheaper/less headaches), gates in DEN. UAL wouldn't bleed as bad as they are going to.

It will be interesting!

You are assuming sw will do this. sw would not have made this offer for f9 had organic growth being doing great. Your mgmt saw a cheap way of getting rid of a well established competitor. Not saying sw does not have the money for a long, expensive fight for den but if this is the route they choose there is no guarantee of a win. At the very least it will cost way more than 170mil. and take their eye off the ball in other areas. You guys are not as competitive as you use to be.

I am not assuming anything, just making conversation.

F9 was in BK. To say we are not as competitive as we used to be is funny. Maybe we are not, but we still are a formidable foe. Pretty sure SW has enough money for a long fight if they chose that route. Its RAH and UAL that don't have money for a long fight. I am just saying fight hard now and you get rid of 2 competitors in DEN. RAH hasn't had to fight as the trunk carrier, it will be interesting if they can.
