Hi all,

I just began working with a regional Airline flying the Brasilia. I hope to be a captain in about 12 months and I want to pursue FedEx after I have some valuable time as a captain in the Brasilia. I would like to ask for any advice on what I can do on the meantime so that I can hope for FedEx. I am planning to apply even if I don’t have the minimums and update my resume often to show my interest. Please advice and recommend as you wish please!

Thank you and I appreciate the time:beer:

you need to get to know other guys who fly for fedex. get them to recomend you, they need to have flown with you. to do this they fill out a recomendation online on their website. so you should have an app online before so they can reference that and you can enter their id and name into your app in wich you need to have three. then get one of them to sponsor you. they will be the one who sets up the meet and greet and basically vouge for you. this is the best chance to get an interview. being military although most feel that you need to be is not true. they hire about 50/50 its just that most of the guys that are mil sponsor their friends and thats how they get the numbers. get going soon on this for it will take a long time. fedex only does m&gs when they need to and about twice a year so far. count on a year from starting to being able to have a chance at an interview, but it is worth it a great place to work and be able to work for 30 years at. hope this helps.

I heard if you Join The Black Pilots Assoc. go to all their functions and supporrt them as much as possible its eassier to get interviews even if your not african american.

put your app in now, update it every 3 months until you have the required time, then update it every 2 weeks. it may take years of doing this, but when you get to the interview, you will have something to talk about that will definitely help you stand out from the other 10000 apps, and hopefully make the difference.

obviously, get to know people who are flying there....bid trips out of areas where they fly and meet as many jumpseaters as possible.

join a guard unit if possible, as there seems to be a lot of fedex guys/gals working at both places.

don't give up

good luck

You dont need three, but it helps. You do need a sponsor that has flown with you. Meet and greets are supposidly not happening anymore(according to CP e-mail) but think some are still going on behind the scenes. And a lot of hope!!!

I know a guy... all turbo prop, no military. Has offers from FX and SWA.

Network. Everyone you met can help you... but also.. meet FX guys. You need a sponser.....team!

Put your app in now.. the sooner the better....

Jumpseat on FX.
Know FX. There are lots of books. Read.
Get PIC turbine quickly. Turbo prop counts just as good as jet.
Be a check airman. Be a leader.

And if you can't "network" and generally make of a pest of yourself, then you're s**t out of luck. On the other hand, if you are able, don't be surprised if it takes up to 10 years, maybe more.
Personally, I would apply elsewhere where you do not have arbitrary hoops to jump through.
I recall being told all this some ten years ago - it made NO real difference to those companies I targeted, even though I did eventually did get the LORs. Do what feels right for you but beware all the rah, rah B.S. stuff !!
