Please share your best and worst experiences from your vacation in the Hawaiian Islands.

I'm looking for a romantic spot, not sure where yet, but somewhere not too touristy with things to do that don't necessarily involve water, or lots of mosquitos. Thanks in advance for sharing your experiences.

I was there with my gf last year. Oahu has the big city lifestyle if you venture down to Honululu. The north shore is a lot slower (and you can skydive). My gf liked the big island the best. The active volcano is there and you can drive/hike out and see the hot lava at night. I would highly reccomend staying at least 2 nights at the hotel in the volcano national park. It was very inexpensive and a great base of operations for hiking the park and visiting the active lava flow. The drive around the big island is very scenic and only takes around 4 hours with stops. I don't recall getting bit up by mosquitos in either of my 2 trips to the islands. Oahu and the big island are the only 2 islands I've been to. Whatever you do, you will enjoy it. Aloha.

We were there (Oahu) last month and had a good time. We took a tour of the Kualoa Ranch, near Kaneohe Bay. Fantastic views.

Can't speak for any other island.

Kauai is my favorite of the islands I have visited. Very laid back and not real touristy. The golf courses are amazing. We also went on hikes, whale watching, and snorkeling. The Poipu Kai condos gave me a great rate on a 2 bedroom condo. I would love to go back soon.

If you've never been there and want to be a tourist, go to Oahu. Stay at a nice hotel on Waikiki Beach and have fun.

Some great touristy things to do... Circle Island Tour by Roberts Hawaii is a 120 mile 8 hour tour of the entire island. The Duck Tour will take you around in one of those WW2 DUK vehicles and stops at Pear Harbor. Germaine's Luau is probably the best Luau on the island...

I was there a couple weeks ago.. Stayed at the Hawaii Prince Hotel, did all the tours, and had a blast.

Kauai North side at the Princeville Resort!!!
Here is there Link:

The opening picture is from many rooms and where you have Brunch in the Morning. We stayed at the Jr. Suites. Bathtub for Two and it has an electric bay window over the Tub that you flip a switch and it goes from frosted to clear.

By the way not cheep.

Germaine's Luau is probably the best Luau on the island...
Gotta differ with ya on this one....Paradise Cove is in a much better location (just as far from Waikiki, but in the Koolina Resort instead of the Campbell Industrial Park in between two dumps and a power plant). That said, go to Kauai and hike, horseback ride, etc. If you go to Maui, try renting a house in Hana...way romantic....the bike ride down Haleakala is fun too. Hawaii without watersports can be done, but talk about shorting yourself on the fun side----get in the water!

While the location of Germaines may not be ideal, the overall experience is much better than both Paradise Cover or the Polynesian....IMO
