http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/archive/t-812782.html#-(Dow Jones)- The Argentine government Monday published a resolution raising domestic airfare rates, a move local media estimated would lead to an 18% overall price hike.
The airfare increase goes into effect at midnight Monday, according to Resolution 257 in Monday's Official Bulletin, which also included a rates schedule for domestic destinations.
The government said the hike was needed "to adapt the economic equation" for airlines, due to rising fuel and salary costs.
Aerolineas Argentinas (AR.YY) is Argentina's main domestic carrier, with some routes also covered by Chile's Lan (LAN.SN).
