I stand by my statement! The wealthy business owners out there have so many holes in our tax code you can fly a 747 through them. Some are actually paying as little as 2% of gross.

And clarify for me about the lazy scum. Would you consider the airline pilots out there on furlough, who are fully able to work, by definition, but who choose to continue to collect unemployment while trying to find other work flying instead of flipping burgers or greeting people at Walmart, are they scum? After all, they are fully able to work!

And yes, many people who fly on the airlines these days are indeed trash. Have you seen southworsts fares lately? Yup, still 69 bucks! Cheaper than a bus.

Oh, and could you do me a favor? Go get a nice cold glass of water, and proceed to the millionaire slug sleeping on the couch, or perhaps his bed in that back of that corporate jet, and throw the water in his face. Thanks!!

Exactly! The most fair way to do it. Increasing sales taxes would be one way to make up the difference.

On that we agree. But that cause the wealthy to pay far more in taxes. Something which seems to make you feel ill. And as far as a sales tax increase, no way!! That affects us poor folks as well as the rich. We need something that does not cause even more hardships for the common folks like us. How about taxing ones TOTAL income, and not just up to 100 grand to help out our SS fund?

I like the idea of a nation-wide 20% tax on ALL goods purchased, and the complete elimination of the income tax.

This fixes the problem of illegal immigrants not paying taxes as well, just an added bonus.

You pay 20% on ALL purchases. Utilities, groceries, gas, appliances, computers, EVERYTHING. Yes, this also eliminates the eBay-type of mail-order-across-state-lines exemption as well, and taxes that, too.

This way, EVERYONE pays the same tax. A wealthy guy wants to buy a boat, plane, or $250,000 car? Pony up 20% buddy. New furniture? New Pool? All services include a 20% service tax. No loopholes. No illegal immigrants avoiding paying taxes, they shop at Walmart, they pay 20%.

Levels the playing field a bit, unless you own and live on a farm, raise your own food and, even then, you'll be paying taxes for feed, gas for the tractor, clothes, and farm supplies.

Most of us pay less, the wealthy don't get the loopholes anymore, and the data shows that our tax revenue would increase 10-12%. Do a search, it's interesting reading...

So far "scary" Mary hasn't been named. Can we agree at this point that this was "flame bait" ?
