How long does it typically take for a company to get back to you after an interview? I was going to call but I didn't want to be a pain in the ass. First interview so not sure what to expect - I'd assume that they'd send a letter one way or another right? Or do they not even waste a stamp on those they don't want to hire... (it's been less than a week but I hate the waiting game.)

Each company handles it differently. Calling after the interview, but before being offered the job, is generally not a good idea.

What company? I call them "You suck" letters. (Jokingly) Some companies will let you know right then & there, others like to let you wonder for a while. Average would be 1-2 weeks. I interviewed at PCL a while ago and it took a month for them to send me a "You suck" letter. Good luck

someone on this board or another refered to it as "the unholy letter". I liked that term, having received a most unholy one myself once..

Heheh I got one from a company that said I didn't meet their qualifications. I wrote back that I was typed in their jet with 2500 hours in type. I got a call shortly after that for an interview (I said no thanks as a job offer from elsewhere arrived).

The point being there is a lot of computer-induced nonsense sometimes with all this stuff. Be patient. If no word in two weeks, CALL.

"you suck" letters...that's great! And accurate too. Just curious Kingair, who did you interview with?

Don't sweat it man, there will be other interviews...every interview is a new experience. We've all been there...

eh never mind - got the letter today - we regret to inform you, ect ect ect blah blah blah.....

Don't sweat it. Keep the letter as motivation. I have a stack of them myself.

Trust me, and this is the truth from a guy who has been there plenty... Every rejection letter is a blessing. You will wind up where you are supposed to be at the appropriate time. When you get there you'll look back on it and say, "Thank God I didn't get hired at that place," i.e. the place that turned you down.

Keep the faith.

He won't say, because he's probably in the garage, in the car, with the engine running and a hose snaked through the rolled-up window. That's how I felt when I got the "you suck" letter.

Oh well, life goes on.

There is allways sirens.... Right gator?

Yeah Diesel...but it won't be the same without my boys! I'll be there tomorrow, I'll toast you in spirit!

Front Row Out!

Reverse - sadly the car ran out of gas before I could accomplish my goal...

All kidding aside, the interview was with TSA. Thought the interview went well but oh well.... always another interview.

I am hoping to hear back from Colgan soon and applied to Scenic Airlines and Great Lakes as well. I am fairly low time, 700 TT and 215 Multi but just trying to build those hours just like 99.9% of us on here...

I know the feeling bud! Just keep at it. You'll make it. The way this industry works you'll be giving me my own advice a few years down the road. :)

Apply to XJT too. Don't be scared by all the negative press we have been getting. It may be nothing in the end, and you will have a great job. Out mins are published at 600/100. Good luck!

Don't sweat it. Trust me, that interview was a great experience for you even though you did not get the job. I have done many interviews and did not get a job offer on the first one. After doing a few interviews you approach it totally in a different manner. Now, when I interview I go totally calm and confident and have received job offers from the last few companies I interviewed with. It is always important to review how you did on the interview and what you need to work on.

Be glad you didn't get on with TSA.

Thanks for the support - honestly, I was just glad to get an actual interview under my belt and I am sure that the more I do the easier they will go. Would have loved to found out why I didn't get the job, but oh well....

Applied to XJT as well (had a buddy from flight school who works there now walk my app. in) but didn't even get to an interview - from what I have been told they want closer to 1000 hrs right now even if the mins are at 600/100.

Talked to a company that does traffic watch and albeit not a great job, I can at least expect to avg. 80 hours a month or so - in 4 months I'll have my 1000 hours or in a few more I'd have my ATP mins. So life goes on....

At least I am not in some damn cubical working in an office like most of my buddies are!
