Just thought you might like to see the new big thing.

Do you think it may have something to do with NJA being based in Columbus, or is it just a coincidence?

I hope we buy 500 of them and while we're at it, 500 Falcon 2000s and 500 hawker 4000s etc...

What's the timing on this aircraft (first delivery estimate)? Also, would it be competing primarily with the G200, CL300, Falcon 2000, etc.?

The official announcement came out like yesturday so it is a long way off. All they have is a bunch of drawings and a cabin mock up that they have been showing around. However, they do have plenty of money and supporters so, it is going to happen.

A lot of new stuff. New avionics, new engines, new wing and fuselage; all from scratch as far as I can tell. 4000 N.M. range on top of all that at .80, should be a cool money maker.

In short, First delivery is projection 2014.

Look back at how long the X took and there you go, same deal.

Still, nice ride!:pimp:

Cessna Sets Sail with Long-awaited Columbus

Yesterday, Cessna chairman, president and CEO Jack Pelton revealed the name of the company’s newest and largest business jet, the large-cabin CE-850 Citation Columbus. In planning for six years, the all-aluminum Columbus will seat up to 10 passengers and cost $27 million (2008 dollars). First flight of the airplane, formerly known only as the large-cabin concept, is expected in 2011, with FAA certification scheduled for 2013 and first deliveries in 2014. In a departure from how it currently builds Citations, Cessna is outsourcing construction of the fuselage and empennage to Spirit AeroSystems. Pratt & Whitney Canada’s new 8,830-pound-thrust PW810 engine (see below) will power the Columbus, and Rockwell Collins will supply its Pro Line Fusion glass cockpit. Cessna will assemble the Columbus in Wichita and act as integrator of the program. None of the suppliers is a risk-sharing partner. Performance includes 4,000-nm range at Mach 0.80, max cruise of Mach 0.85, 1,950-pound full-fuel payload and takeoff distance at max takeoff weight of 5,400 feet. Cessna has letters of intent for 70 copies of the Columbus, and the jet will be the first of a series of new airplanes, according to Pelton.

If it has a larger cockpit than the X and comfy seats, it will be a great airplane.

I like great airplanes.

I wonder when we'll actually see the Hawker Horizon/4000 at NJA. At least it's back on the bid sheet.

Any over/under on whether the 4000 will arrive before the new 850?

I'm waiting for the new Gulfstream wide-body. Design is reportedly frozen and announcement due soon, maybe even before NBAA. 7000 mile range and more cabin volume than a Global. THAT will be some machine.

Saw a 4000 in SDL with QS tail last
friday. Good looking bird!

I think it would be more appropriate to say you saw THE 4000 with the QS tail ;). Only one so far.

Serial # RC-6 (N15QS) still belongs to HBC. If you looked closely next to the entry door you might even have seen the word "experimental".

I will agree that it looks very sharp and has some great performance numbers. Can't wait to see it certified and flying the line.

I understand this to be the much anticipated "large cabin" entry for Cessna.

Looks like a big fat pregnant X. I was hoping for a fresh design...

I think it's a lot prettier than the X. Better-proportioned.

As long as the paycheck and QOL are great, just about any plane can be attractive.

Wolfpack,

I don't know if you were hoping for a flying wing, but the LCC is a clean sheet design. It will share almost nothing with the X, other than it looks like a business jet.
