The best way to send resume by email?

What is the preffered way to send resume by email? Do you attach it, or paste it to the email, or both? Should I also send a cover letter with it?

If you have access to Adobe Acrobat you can put it into PDF format... This works really well and will print out just like it looks...

PDF is a very widely accepted format for internet documents...
