Was I the only one who noticed the jockey pull back on the reins 3 quick time just before the finish line. Download the horse race on espn. And tell me what you think. It really appears the smarty jones jockey tugs on it to slow him down ?

really?

Didn't pay that much attention to the detail. I was too busy crying as I watched the possibilty of $500 slip out of my hands. I placed $25 for Smarty to finish first and Birdstone to finish 2nd.
BOS is a great thing, you guys ever go to it?

I know a gal who used to ride race horses. She said when you take a tighter grip on their mouth, it is a cue for
them to grab the bit and run harder. She says it's like riding a runaway freight train with no brakes. The only way to stop them is to stand up in the stirrups and let them tire a bit.

Smarty did not settle down on the front and jumped the gun way too early on the 1.5 mile, Stewart could not get him to settle and that was the main factor and was biggest reason for a 2nd place finish. If he could have just gotten him to settle down on the front then the outcome would have been a win and a triple crown. I knew he was in trouble after he put it all on the line during the first portion of the race... Servis even said he knew Smarty was in trouble when they made the turn to come down the home stretch, you could even see that Birdstone's jockey did everything he could without it being too obvious to avoid being the spoiler.. If it was a mile then a whole different ballgame...

oh well...

I guess it is always good to loose money on a "sure bet".... ouch, I will learn.
