Not the first time SWA has flown into ATL for a charter, but thanks for showing what a tool you are for trolling for flights on Flight Aware.
Probably just the way for Atlanta ATC to say "welcome to Atlanta".

The technical definition is $1 billion of revenue. But, I would also say it has to be an airline that flies its own code.
You can have any definition you want, though.
Whatever makes you feel better about flying your barbie jet for the next 30 years. How convenient. Guess that makes Airtran a "major", but not the "commuter" airlines you came from. Last time I checked SkyWest Inc was a lot bigger than Airtran. But you can have your self serving, ego boosting definition, DOT be damned!!!!
Clearly!
Sorry, pal, but "major" doesn't mean anything any more. Everybody except the smallest commuters and upstarts are a "major", as defined by the DOT. Airtran is an LCC. If SWA is Target, Airtran is K-Mart. Plain and simple. You are not Nordstroms or even Macy's for that matter. But of course, you knew this going in. Your delusions of grandeur didn't start until recently.
What justifies a Major? Is it money, big airplanes, size of fleet? Just curious.
Whatever makes you feel better about flying your barbie jet for the next 30 years.
I think we'll be just fine.Whatever makes you feel better about flying a 717 for the next 5 years then having to look for a regional job when your company goes T.U.
Actually, I did. You can probably find examples of that in my old posts.Besides, didn't you used to fly a "Barbie Jet"? I'm certain you wouldn't have called it that when you flew it. Hypocrite.
Haah, I think you hurt Ifly4foods feeling.
AirTran generates its own revenue, where skywest just latches on to the tit and sucks it dry. Not hard to make money when someone just gives it to you.
Don't try to make it more then what it is, the regionals have made a lot of money over the years this way.
Yeah, all those years of profitability are just killing us!Hmmm, sounds like you're just hating. Sorry your company doesn't have a win-win business plan.

Hmmm, sounds like you're just hating. Sorry your company doesn't have a win-win business plan.
Airtran is a distant memory once DAL and whatever merger partner they settle with put a strangle on you. I think the era of LCCs is almost over.
Slowing growth doesn't mean the end of profits. To the contrary, it means the company is acting smart about the coming recession.
Actually, with oil where it is, every airline is a High Cost Carrier. AirTran does a good job with their execution and is a tough competitor for Delta. Delta has a better network, but many business travellers like the way AirTran treats them.AAI and SWA are majors, just not legacies. As for being a "low cost carrier," I don't even know what that means anymore. Every airline seems like a low cost carrier nowadays.
In that case, maybe you should follow your own standard: if you're not supposed to post on anything that doesn't directly affect you, then you shouldn't be in this thread! Buh-bye!So you concede that Airtran is cutting back? You mean that business model they formulated in the early 2000s isn't so good any more? Or maybe the LCC market has just reached saturation?
And when you get done furiously typing the reply to that, PCL, why not share your thoughts on USAPA with us. Beginning with why you think you have a dog in that fight, and why your opinion matters, since you're not even in ALPA anymore.

yes, profitability...paid for by your crap wages and work rules. Congratulations on being so "profitable"!
You're right, we can always declare bankruptcy instead of posting a profit.
Which company was it you worked for again?yes, profitability...paid for by your crap wages and work rules. Congratulations on being so "profitable"!
I don't know, I keep hearing about Airtran slowing growth. Have then not done so? "Past performance does not predict future gains".
