Thank You Delta Pilots!

Under most circumstances I don't like to keep bringing up a
subject that has been written about over and over again.
But I do want to add a very big Thank You to my Delta Brother's and Sister's who are contributing each month so that my family can have health insurance. The insurance saved my family a lot of money when my 5 year old son suffered a bad broken arm. Since my furlough on May 1st, I have been unable to find a good temporary job that provides health insurance. I am very proud to be associated with all Delta people, Connection included. I hope to be back in a Delta Jet sometime soon, but for now I am happy that I have a job Managing a Mail Box Etc, and that I can continue my work on my MBA. My son is the greatest kid in the world, and I appreciate your giving so that we could give him the best care we could. Take Care. And GOD bless you all!

Back in the last aviation "Depression" I found myself without insurance . . . . Anyone in that situation should definitely consider a Catastrophic Coverage policy. Usually only $100. or so a month (for a family) it won't cover DR visits or small expenses like that, but if you incur expenses in the thousands it will kick in. Usually a pretty good deal for people and families in good health that don't have chronic conditions. It is cheap peace of mind.

Usually sold by independent agents, as a six month policy or some are good for a year.

Industry peer competition is one thing, industry peer unemployment is entirely different. I extend my sympathies to you and all my peers at other airlines that are currently furloughed. It is nice to see your Delta bros' and sis' standing beside you and helping out during this time. You have a real great bunch of pilots over there... and I mean that! Hope this all turns around sooner than later, and see you back out there helping keep our profession alive.

Thank you for the good wishes. While I will not be joining you at ASA< it is nice to know that we would be welcomed by some. For the record, I have always felt the same way about you guys coming over here.

Please allow me, however, to correct one small inaccuracy in your post. It is not Delta who is taking care of their employees, it is the Delta pilots who are taking care of their own. Delta is not paying one red cent for our health insurance (although they have taken credit for it in the news).

Please allow me to correct one small innaccuracy in your post. It is not the Delta pilots taking care of there own, rather it is a percentage of the pilot group who believes in doing the right thing and supporting their coworkers who are taking care of there own. What amazes me is how the VP of Flt. Ops. can look a DAL pilot in the eye and say he cares about the furloughed pilots and yet he does not contribute to the pilot relief fund. Here is a guy who makes considerably more $$ than me and is not close to being furloughed, like me, and yet he chooses not to help the guys he supposedly cares about! Priceless!

Don't get me started on JK! Suffice it to say I am less than enthused with his leadership and compassion. Sometimes the mark of a good leader is not only being able to make the tough calls, but to empathize with and assist those who are being affected by the decisions.

While his mgt skills might be adequate, his leadership leaves a lot to be desired.

United Airlines ALPA pilots are doing the same thing for us furloughed UAL pilots. THANK YOU! This is more appreciated than you can imagine! Someday when I'm in a different position I'll repay in kind.

I for one would like to contribute to the Relief fund. Anyone have the address? I truly believe that now is the time for Mainline and Express, Connection (whatever you want to call us) to hang together, cause sure as sh*t, management will want to hang us seperately!

Hey guys

Whoever is out there furloughed without health insurance please do yourself a favor and get some. You should be able to get Blue Cross for something like 30$/month. When I got furloughed last fall I didn't get any. I got appendicitis in Feb and racked up something like 30,000$ in medical bills! I (like you I'm sure) have always been totally healthy but some weird stuff like that strikes you overnight without regard for your lack of medical history.

I am sitting on reserve right now waiting for some Lawyer who is sueing me to call me back. Arrrrrgh

I am not a big Denzel Washington fan but I watched the movie "John Q" and it definitely makes you think about health insurance and what can happen to you if your not covered, one time I paid my own health insurance for a few months and for major medical I think it was 70 dollars a month this may sound like alot of money when your furloughed but if something major happens it will be well worth the money spent. Adrianh good luck working out payment with those guys, it gets pretty messy once the lawyes get involved.
