I'm not a military guy, (although still thinking about it) but I fly out of, and I'm from Terre Haute. I'm a student of Indiana State's aviation program. The reports are correct. One died, and another survived. The word is that his parachute failed. Now whether he died before the parachute mishap, I don't know.
It's a **CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED** shame though. And it tears me up even more, considering I was listening to them talking on my radio scanner in my bedroom about 20-30 minutes before it happened. Tough one to bare. He'll be in my prayers.
I just wonder what happened to cause the collision. We had popcorn thunderstorms around the area all day. I was going to fly, but I decided not to. I'll be interested to hear what the he!! happened
They just announced the guy's name. Bill Burchett. Fedex 727 F/O. He was in my new hire class. Great guy. One of the few fellas that had a smile on his face every single day of BI. I've know alot of guys that have been lost in airplane mishaps, but it never gets easier.
