I don't know what is more sad, that the Iowa National Guard can't stop a seventy year old man from having his way with the airport, or that he was looking for his friend who has been dead for years.

It is a sad story. First of all, getting a successful defense using the "insanity" plea is about as rare as winning the "powerball" on your birthday and this guy is not a terrorist. However, since the feds can't find cells of terrorists or skin head white supremicists toting illegally possessed machineguns to prosecute, he'll do.

Both you and I know that if the Guard guy would have turned the 70 year old into a No. 2 pencil, they would have cried bloody murder on that as well.

Sad for the old guy...if we're all lucky, we'll all live to be old enough to be senile. Sad for the rest of us...when security can be breeched by an old duffer without a plan, but plenty of ambition.
