Hey guys,,, we are looking for a temporary stretcher to put in our King Air 200. We are flying humanitarian work and sometimes do med-evacs. We want a safer way of securing people, maybe something that would snap into the seat tracks.
I did air am work for a year and am familiar with the "Lifeport" system or something similair. Thats the best way to do it but we need something just for those few occations.
Any ideas???

If you are doing humanitarian work you may be able to get away with making your own, like modifying a stokes to secure via seat tracks. Finding something like this to purchase may be near impossible since it would have to come with an STC and cost an arm and a leg.

There is a couch that is offered...either by Beech or a third-party...that is installed on the LH side of the aircraft. Not sure if it's avail on the 200, but I have used it on other models. The couch is certified for 4 pax and is quite long.

I'd call a medi-vac outfit and ask them what they are using. It's likely installed via an STC.

Not really an item for quick installation or easy storage, I have operated 200's with them though.

I fly a C-90 with the "Divan" couch. The divan also has a head rest that can be proped up. It is not a med bed by any means and the passengers will not enjoy a ride longer than about 1 1/2 hours. The lifeport system is by far a better system, especially if the person can not get up the stairs.

I fly a a 200 and some times do air am. work and we have a medical sled that has a bracket which attaches to the seat tracks on the right hand side. It takes about a half hour to take the seats and bulk heads out and put this in with two people doing the work.

Lay them in the isle and let the other passenger hold them down with their feet.

Seriously, even if used only on a few occasions you should have a Lifeport, otherwise don't take passenger unless they can sit up. The attending doctor should make the decision as to the care and equipment they need. But of course you know this.
