I always seem to have trouble with the "tell me about a time" questions. Not that I don't have the experience to answer them, but because it takes a few minutes for me to dig things out of my brain. That being said, can you guys post some of the most common questions? Some you have been asked - or even some off the wall ones you have heard? I think it would be a good idea to have a list to prepare with...

Thanks.

Grunt- (thanks for your service, by the way)

I am not good at coming up with those kinds of answers either. However I did just go through one of those types of interviews and got hired. The method I used was pretty simple. Before the interview, I thought about all the trips or flights that stood out in my mind for any reason and then thought about why they did. (came up with about 7 or 8 that really stood out) Some were good, some were bad, but I was able to relate almost all the TMAT questions to one of those stories.

Questions I was asked and have heard others asked:

Tell me about a time you:
Assumed a leadership role
Were part of a successful team
Allowed a subordinate to help make a decision
Had a flight start out badly but end well and vice versa
Had to settle a conflict in the cockpit
Were disappointed
Felt uncomfortable in the cockpit
Used CRM

Hope some of this helps. It is about all I can remember.

One important thing to remember is to always end with a positive note in your story. Show how you learned from something.

Tell us about a time you put in extra effort to get the fligth out on time....?

Guess I gave the wrong answer as JetBlue did not call me back.

AA called instead and they had scenario based questions: What would you do if you just took off from some mountain airport in Colorado, en engine caught fire and ya could not put the fire out.
In the meantime the airport went 0/0....:(

 What was your answer?
