What is UAL saying about who will fly the TED jets? I heard a nasty rumor that UAL pilots will be able to voluntarily go to TED but it will be a different seniority list and different pay scale. I thought it was supposed to be like Song.

Just wanted to make sure this wasn't true.

Same seniority list and payscale.
The original 'Starfish' was floated with separate seniority list and payscale. That issue was included in UAL's 'wonderful' concessionary contract negotiated by our illustrious former MEC chairman paul whiteferg, er whiteford (no caps intentionally).

Is it true that there is a five year seat hold on TED? Delta pilots fly Song legs in the middle of regular 757/767 trips.

Bye Bye--General Lee:rolleyes:

That rumor's COMPLETELY UNFOUNDED. Our 'brilliant' MEC chairperson, paula whiteferg, er paul whiteford, negotiated a 54 month freeze. That's much less than 5 years.

54 month freeze equals: 4 and 1/2 years. OUCH. And they have to fly up to 95 hours a month. Well, atleast you will be close to that 1000 hours max a year and get probably atleast 1 month off---maybe December so you can collapse and sleep through Christmas. I can't wait until Delta starts asking for that too----thanks a bunch.

Bye Bye--General Lee:mad:  ;)

A current 737 or A320 pilot does not get any additional equipment freeze. A pilot that bids into the LCO gets a 36 month freeze. A pilot that bids within the LCO (from A320 F/O to 737 Capt, A320 F/O to A-320 Capt, etc.) gets the 54 month freeze you are talking about. A pilots that gets surplused into the LCO gets a 36 month freeze within the LCO but can immediately bid back to the mainline when able to do so.

I can't wait until Delta starts asking for that too----thanks a bunch.

Tell Delta to stuff it in that case General. What are you afraid of.....Ted? Or could there be other carriers out there stepping on your heels?

I'm sure you would have done a much better job. Did you learn the "Ferg" term from the same guys that talked about smoke and mirrors rather than economic reality in 2002?

Paula Whitferg? Yeah. When management has every ace in the deck and you are faced with liquidation what you want to do is "uphold the profession." Make no mistake, UAL went Ch11 to protect itself from its employees. You need to read the book 'Who Moved My Cheese.' Seriously. Yes, this has been a downturn that happens every decade or so, but in addition to that the old way of doing business is gone and will never be back.

Well, the ONE thing that I would have done differently is that I would have hired professional negotiators rather than have a bunch of my cronies negotiate the new contract with management.
The negotiations were akin to some country bumpkin walking into a car dealership and paying above sticker price for Ford Escort.

Gen Lee--I believe Delta is enjoying it's pay rates because of United paving the way...TC
