I know, I said the dreaded "T" word!

I used an accountant that many other airline pilots use for my 2003 return. He did a great job, but was a bit pricey.

Can computer programs like TurboTax, etc., give me the same results? They are significantly cheaper than sending my stuff to an accountant that knows about airline employee deductions (flight training, per diem, etc.) but I'm wondering if they will ask me the right questions to get the same deductions.

Thanks!

Several years ago I decided to try TurboTax. Not sure of how it's results would compare to an accountant, I had another return done by a professional. The two amounts came within $1 of each other. I've used TurboTax since. Even with complicated items such as home sales, refinancing and other biggies, TurboTax makes it very easy and has guides to help you though the more complicated process. Once you've done it, the next year is much easier as you import all your data from the previous year. Same holds true for state taxes.
