the way i look at it for a crash pad or hotel costs, is someone who works in DT chicago for example and doesnt want to drive 2 hours in traffic home to get home gets a 200 dollar a night hotel in DT chicago cannot deduct that
 
You can deduct anything you want. Getting it by an IRS agent in an audit is another thing.
