I don't post on here alot, but I have posted a few things now and then talking about the progression of my flying career. Well, I am about to take the next step.

I wasn't sure about getting my CFI, because I didn't really have the time and money, and also because of the lack of jobs in my area. But, I couldn't really find any other way to build time in my area besides being a part time CFI. So, I decided to take a job with a large FBO at Ft Lauderdale Executive Airport. They gave me a really good pay rate, and was told by the person that interviewed me that there are many people that do the same thing I am doing, and leave the FBO to take a flying job within a year or so. I've also done a bunch of research into this FBO, and it seems like a good place to work, even if I don't get a flying job out of it.

I am leaving my present job this week, which I have had since I was 16 (9.5 years total), and moving on. It is a bit scary, but I am also excited to finally move on, and see what FXE has in store for me.

Congrats on your vow of poverty. I didn't necessarily like being broke but there are more important things than money. I haven't regretted it.

You must do what you must do. Good luck with the new job.

I'm lucky to have a job there that is going to pay me the same as what I am making now, so at least I'll have a steady income while I play airport whore and try to get my total time built up. I have about 330 tt, with 25 multi. My goal is to have 500 tt within a year, then try to get a full time flying job after that. Who knows if it will work out, but at the worst I spend a few years in south Florida playing in the sun.
