Thanks to everyone who has replied to my posts in the past. I recieved a lot of good advice from my post, "Medical Jitters," which was lost when the site crashed. I'm happy to say that the FC1 went fine!

My question is to anyone who has recieved AF reserve unit sponsorship. My recruiter tells me that he sends my packet with my resume (and cover letter) to units I want to apply to. Then the units that like what they see will ask for an interview. Is this how its done or is there any way I can take the bull by the horns and seek out sponsorship by other means? I don't know any pilots in the reserves but I do know a couple in the AF guard that I am getting LORs from.

Also, I have seen some threads on resumes and cover letters but any more advice would be appreciated. I'm trying to organize: job history, military experience, education, and pilot experience.

NO NO NO NO

YOU call the squadron chief pilot first. You inquire about UPT slots, when are they hiring, any special requirements, etc. Verify you have the correct address and who to address the cover letter to. Then YOU send your packet, and call them back in a week or two to verify they received it. If they want to interiew you they will call or email YOU. Dont leave anything up to the recruiter. As for your packet we had a thread not too long ago:
