was at a Fort Lauderdale FBO the other day and observed an airplane taxi up, and curious who owned it, I checked the public FAA website.

the tail number returned "Temporary Certificate", with an expiration date in 1998.

What exactly does this mean? (I don't know...). Can you still fly around the country with such status?
