Don't worry, PDT will find a way to phck it up.......

I saw it this morning also. Giving you a link wouldn't help since its password protected. I doubt its on the ALPA site, and it isn't on the company site yet either. Big surprise there.........

Supposed to be 20 crews.

It's listed on the company site under FILS since 3pm today..

Clt is going to take the hit...maybe closure at least serious Downsizing..\

Upgrade class to be held as well...If needed

Let the fun begin..all you ALG guys in LGA going back? Good news for you guys at last...

Figures CLT will take the hit. Like the hit we took last month wasn't enough...

Nice to see us commuters are being looked out for. (Spoken with dripping sarcasm and severe disdain)

You can't please everybody all the time, but I'm pretty sure alot of the SYR folks from the heyday of ALG in SYR (what was it? 60 crews? it was the place to be from '99 to '03) will be rejoicing, the same poor shmucks who were forced to commute to LGA to do overnights in SYR when they shut it down last November. I can't speak to the ease of commuting to SYR, as I lived there, but I would venture to guess that at least a crashpad would be far more reasonable than some rat-hole in LGA.

Glad to hear it myself. I can think of lots of people who will be thrilled.

PS- Dash8, do you know if any of my former roommate's things are still furnishing the crew room?

That's true, you can't please everybody every time. I'm happy for you guys that live in SYR. I've met a few people who will no longer have to commute. That's always a good thing.

In this case however, we're looking at a significant base reduction in a place where the majority of the base commutes, mostly from JAX or TPA since Airways pulled us out of there. It's coming from a base that took a huge hit last month losing 7 lines of flying.

How low does morale have to go exactly? Can't put all the blame on PDT. None of this would be a factor if mainline didn't feel the need to put RJs on 15 minute flights....

91,
last time actually went into the room i didn't recall seeing anything except maybe that little black table, its become the 'smoking room' apparently. and yeah, there were in the neighborhood of 60 crew sets, and just over 40 lines of flying at one point i think. so big that the feds were on algs case about putting a mtc base there because of the size of it, and our own chief pilot (which i'm sure are some of the many factors why alg forced flying out of there)

sync,
not all the alg guys will be goin back, but a handfull will (unless we somehow get hosed by contract clauses) actually, there will probably be more f/a's leavin lga for syr, than fo's or ca's

opec,
yeah, us commuters haven't exactly had an easy go of things here at pdt...hopefully it won't be too much of a whack on clt's flying but with psa having come in there thats gotta hurt (but at least maybe mesa will be leaving and that will ramp up the lines abit)

Man I remember those good ole' days (I was in Ice Station Bingo) - no check in and calling our own times - what a life! ACARS and computerized check-in bites.

PSA just announced they are closing thier PHL crew base and transferring the flying to CLT....

Yeah, I saw all of the PSA flying was coming down to CLT also. Figured they were going to close our base soon, and have what little flying is left there done by mostly EWN, and the few other crews who fly originators in.

Just gonna make life even better for us PDT folks who are based there. Or were based there.

My crystal ball shows many involuntary moves for September. If that's the way mainline wants it, its going to cost them a lot in moving people. I think somewhere in the neighborhood of at least $1500 per crewmember. Just guessing, but closing the CLT base ought to cost them about 75-80,000.

Gonna make life real interesting.... Thanks Crystal City... Nice to see you're looking out for us and appreciate the job we do.

So who is gonna pick up all the RJ slack in PHL now? Wasn't PSA getting all that flying from CHQ shortly before they closed their own PHL base? And Mesa is still leaving right? And didn't MDA just downsize PHL in favor of DCA a few months ago?

But, I'll edit that to add that I guess any or all of these carriers could just as easily get through PHL without a crew base. It's late and I'm beat.

Air Whisky as far as I know. At least that's what the rumor mills are spinning.

Yep. I can think of much worse. Besides, they have been VERY kind to PDT folk in the past.

That's correct, unfortunately. 150 pilots in Sept to PHL from ORD, 600 pilots displaced out of our current bases by end of Oct to PHL, DCA, and a still unannounced other base.

Sucks for everyone involved.

Phck Airways......

Hopefully they will put more MDA flying back in PHL so thoes of us that were bumped in Feb can get back to where we want to be. But since it seems that every decision or move I make in this induswtry turns to sh!t I doubt it.

Got to get out of the Airways umbrella. I think life will be much better then....

What?

A crap h-o-l-e?

SYR is actually a great place.
Skiing close by.
Clean air.
The college downtown has some great pubs.
And the BBQ ribs at Dinasours are the best.
Sure it isn't NYC but would you rather...Oh...St. Louis? or...
Mobile Alabama?

Come on....you can't complain about SYR.

Not complaining about SYR. Awesome overnight as far as I'm concerned. That steak house with with the awesome food and walking appetizers next door to the hotel is tops in my book.

It's the CLT downsizing to reopen SYR that pi$$es me off. I'm right on the bubble of getting an involuntary move, or sitting reserve. The involuntary move makes for at minimum a 2 leg commute again, quite possibly a 3 leg. The reserve means I sit on my a$$ and not make much if any above min guarantee since the staffing levels have gone up.

Not to mention the JAX/TPA folks who have already been relocated once. That's the sole reason we even have a base in CLT and commuter clause. There's enough bitterness in the CLT crew room over not being in FL anymore to stop a pack of wild dogs. The hits to an already low morale just keep on coming.
