Southwest Airlines raises one-way fares up to $10
NEW YORK, Sept 4 (Reuters) - Southwest Airlines Co (LUV.N: Quote, Profile, Research), the leading U.S. low-cost carrier, on Tuesday said it raised one-way fares by up to $10 to offset high fuel costs.
Fares on flights of over 1,250 miles were increased $10 each way effective Aug. 31, while tickets on select short- and medium-haul routes were raised by $1, $3, and $5 each way, company spokeswoman Beth Harbin said.
Southwest typically determines prices in the markets it serves, and its pricing moves are generally quickly followed by competitors. (Reporting by Chris Reiter)
