I'm W curious as to what would a senior SWA CA bid be like? I think the junior flying at SWA is pretty good - not too bad to work the long block hours and pay is very good. But I wonder how much better it gets as you get more senior. Are you still doing 8 hour block days?

I know at Fedex our senior trips are great - say a 4 day trip with 48 hours off in San Francisco staying at a nice hotel - and getting paid for 24 hours. Or doing something similar with a long layover in Paris, Frankfurt, Hong Kong, etc. It's nice to have some trips that cater to getting older - I really don't want to be in the seat for 8+ hours a day when I'm 50 years old. So give me some examples of really good SWA trips that senior guys get. Thanks.

Why do you care? You're at Fedex (I guess) and you like the senior trips. WTF?? :erm:

I don't want to be in the seat 8+ hours a day now(and I'm not) - never mind when I'm 50.

Weekends off and maybe better paying (per day) trips. Other than that, the lines are all pretty much the same.......

How long would it take to hold weekends off at a junior base say OAK or BWI? Are you able to trip trade and get weekends off even if you cant hold it on the bid?

You can get weekends off quicker if you are willing to bid blank lines. With ELITT you can trade you pairing that works weekend for one that doesn't. Unfortuneately the pairing that don't work the weekend you go as soon as ELITT opens, so if you aren't on when it opens you normally can't do it. You can always trade with another pilot if he is willing to tarde.

You sound like a United pilot  In all seriousness I'd prefer an 11 hour overnight in Detroit or Columbus. If I can't hold those I take the 12 hour overnight in Cleveland.

Gup

The longer the layover the better...nobody likes their Kids or Wife anymore.

I wish we had 50 hour overnights and flew 4 hours a day!! I want 5 day trips that block 20 hours!!!

Better stay put. I think the majority here want to get to work, work like heck, then have 17-19 days off. Every 24 layover you like is a 24 hr peice of time I'm away from home, which is a detractor to QOL.

I think you should try some more open-ended, subjective terms, you don't have enough.

In addition, whats with the anti-Southwest attitude?

While you are talking about "our" trips at FedEx, you might at least put one of the FedEx fleet aircraft in your avatar.

Or at least, don't claim you fly the 737-700, posted here:

Look I fly the 737-700 as well. I didn't know that SWA doesn't train pilots on using the Autobrakes or Autothrottles but if that's the case then they definitely have a problem.

FedEx has no 737-700's.

Here you claim to have seen the widebody Captain bid

Saw the rough of the bid - it'll be out next week - 290 WB Captains.

Here you discuss how great FedEx is (you don't even work there) versus SWA

I've actually spent a lot of time thinking about SWA vs FEDEX recently. I do think people "seem" happier at SWA but I'm not so sure why.

I raise the B.S. flag on your post, trying to stir the pot. Probably some 16 year old on dad's PC at home, and dad is likely a non-pilot FDX employee.

Go play at airliners.net

Later, whoever else believes you are a FedEx driver, well I have some land in Florida for sale....

You just moved into my owned column.....congrats....

OUCH!!!! Take that

This is funny. Thanks Babylon.

Why don't we talk about what it's like to be a senior oil company executive or senior partner in a lawfirm?

Or my personal favorite, Powerball winner...

Yeah, senior dudes at FedEx have it made. Great hotels, long layovers and great destinations.
