SWA poolie questions

Greetings to all,

I was fortunate enough to be selected in the June DB for SWA. I already have my type. Can any of the previous month selectees comment on when they are headed to class? Particularly, the April and May folks. Has SWA given you any info when you would be going? I heard that the class dates are slowing down a bit.

For those that are in the que, here's my info:

call for interview: April
interview date: beginning of May

Congrats on getting the call!

Since you were already typed, your pool date is now when you interviewed, i.e. May 2 or whatever the actual date was. Luckily for you, you have moved ahead of some who had previously interviewed sans type and got it say on May 3 or anytime after you interviewed, so that is good. It is true there is only one class for July so your wait may be a little longer than normal, but I would guess based on recent (April) buddies that wait in the pool with type will be in the 6-8 week time frame. That guess is worth exactly what you paid for it though

I interviewed on March 19th with the type. April DB. I'm not available until August 15th. I talked to the PD last week and they said they could not guarantee anything, but mid August to early September seemed reasonable. They said they will give you 30 days notice prior to starting class so hopefully I will here something in the next 2-3 weeks. I have read on here where people on the April DB have already started class.

has anyone heard of someone getting hired without a type, military or 121 training time? i was called for an interview next month and i was a little shocked since i have none of those.

A friend of mine meeting that general discription just got the thumbs up call about an hour ago.

I tentatively have a Sep 5th class, from everything I have ever encountered there personally and the people with whom I have spoken; if they invite you to an interview they believe whatever your qualifications, they're good enough. If they like you at the interview and believe you are a fit for the culture, then they call you after the DB with the good news. Good Luck.

Set up your type

Call K&S, they work well with people that have an interview without a type. They are very familiar with the process and will set up your start date within one or two days of the decision board. I had a bud do this, he started the day after he got the call to continue (after decision board).

The May DB blessed me with the call to continue (I had an interview April 19th). I was told to expect a class either late August or early September, but this was before they went from 2 classes in July to 1, so I am thinking it will be longer now.

A friend of mine who was in the April DB starts class June 27th.
