I was in KAUS yesterday and saw a Southwest plane painted silver, standard color tail.

what is the scheme/theme of that one, I think it was 629SW

I believe that was for the 25th "silver" aniversary.

I hear the newest additions to the fleet are going to have the USAirways paint scheme but have SWA painted on the tail in a hurried fashion as they are repoed from the ramp.

That is correct. The aircraft is called "Silver One" and was originally polished aluminum like an AA aircraft. Evidently, the cost of keeping up the finish was getting too high so it has been painted gray. There was also a specialty interior that has been converted to the new leather seating. At this point, they might as well just paint it Canyon Blue, slap a comemerative plaque on the forward windsceen and be done with it.

I think you might find the landings would suffer if that plaque was very big... although it could be a nice sunshade at the right time of day!

On the -300...the cabinet in front of the FWD F/A jumpseat just inside and to the right of the FWD entry door....for some reason SWA and/or Boeing calls it a windscreen. Whenever they dedicate a plane to one thing or another...they stick a plaque up there.
