Just SPOKE with Lindsey Lang about the rumour of October 1st and she confimed that it is indeed a RUMOUR. I have a friend who I told to take his time with the app. since the pool is full and now he is filling out the app. like a madman to beat the deadline. I told him I would call the People Dept. to inquire and Lindsey said that they may stop taking apps at the END of the year but they are still accepting them PAST the 1st of October.

And yes include 3 LOR's to make your App. complete!

Confirmed

I also confirmed with Lindsey the Oct 1 deadline is not accurate. Any decision such as this would be placed on the SWA website & done in plenty of time to allow folks to know well in advance.

Facts about SWA history:

There was a period of time not so too many years ago that applications had to be postmarked on ONE specific day of the year & if they weren't, the apps were rejected. So the moral of the story is, applications deadlines don't always stay open indefinitely. Other airlines routinely do this but since SWA has been running non-stop for so long in hiring, most recent applicants forget this is a possibility. How would SWA handle such a change? By posting it well in advance on the "official" Web site of SWA, www.southwest.com. If someone notes a change there then posting it here would be helpful but until that happens the app process remains the same & is open. Would I get my app in ASAP? Of course but that isn't based upon whether it is closing or not but based upon simply getting in line is a smart thing to do.

BTW, I had 61% load factor (just at the bottom end of what we need to be profitable) on 7 flights in TX today. Not great but things are at least holding steady, although at a low level.
