SWA new hire info

As of today, our first newhire class of 20 will begin on January 12, 2004. The next class will not be until March 1, 2004. This will permit the second class to be trained using the new SNORT procedures which we will transition to in April. We expect to have classes approximately every two weeks through July beginning in March. As a reminder, we will accept online applications beginning January 12, 2004

SNORT is some lame acronym that is the Southwest checklist rewrite team. They are revamping our checklist to make it more streamlined. We have no idea what it looks like. Target date for use is 20 April. This is why no classes for February.

Medical Currency

B. Rubble,

Call SWA for clarification but I would bet that they want your medical to be current the day you apply. How do you know when you are going to have an interview? Also, what if you had a medical problem today that would prevent you from getting a 1st class medical? SWA wants to know that today or the day you apply you meet ALL qualifications. Are you trying to time it it to save money? If your reason is anything other than medical I would get it today and then you wouldn't have to worry about it. My opinion but definitely go ahead and ask and good luck...

I've had a paper application in with SWA since July 2001, if the online application comes online Jan 12th do I have to resubmit my "App" if so, where does that leave me in the queue?

Any info would be appreciated-thanks.

Should have recieved a letter

If you had a paper app in, you should have received a letter telling you that the 12 Jan update was coming and that your orignal app date was "___". The letter also mentioned whether or not they have you listed as having a 737 type rating. I got my letter on Christmas Eve. The letters were sent out on the 22nd.

Unfortunately there is no longer a queue. The screen will be competitive, and your original application date will probably only matter in the event of a tie with another competitive applicant.

I recommend that you call SWA Lindsay Lang and get an answer for why you have not received your letter. I believe her number is 214-792-5446. Whatever you do, do not give up! They will take into consideration that you applied before last April but if you didn't receive the letter it means something is wrong. Did you get the update they sent early on 2003? You should have. SWA PD is great and their people are outstanding. I am confident that they will straighten it out for you.

You're not the only one...this dawg ain't getting any LUV either. Maybe the People Dept prefers cats and cat lovers. Say it ain't so!

FYI, I didn't receive the Jan 03 update form either, so I simply photocopied a friends blank form, then called LL and faxed in my newly acquired and completed "update" form, then called to verify she received it.

After receiving my original app, the SWA People Dept may have determined my app would be better utilized as recycled paper and have just been toying with me all this time.
