Here is my prediction__(like you care).

The lady that was selling our A boarding passes over the internet got shut down by a federal judge a couple of weeks ago. I bet SWA starts selling the first 20 or so A boarding passes for $10. This will start in NOV when our new boarding proc. goes system wide. Now with approx 3300 flights/day multiply that times $200 of added income and multiply that by 365 days and you get approximately 241 million more dollars per year. Its gonna happen people.

BAke

Gee someone must be a fortune teller....lol

The new process sucks for families with small kids. I experienced it last week unfortunately. It's a shame because I always fly SWA.

Sucks because you couldn't sit together or sucks because you couldn't sit in the front few rows? I'm curious to see how it works.

Gup

How much extra does it cost Southwest to assign seats?

Why go to asigned seats when the vast majority of SWA Customers told us in survey after survey that they DID NOT want SWA to get rid of the open seating?

In addition among non SWA folks that were surveyed, they found that assigned seating wouldn't get them to fly sWA anyway....

So why go there when we don't have to?

Yep, I'm one of them. I find getting the assigned seats that I want a real pain when my company puts me on an airline other than SWA. I suppose it would be better if I had status on those other airlines but I don't.

I'm looking forward to trying the new system.

OK, just asking. I didn't know if there were other factors involved. Southwest has always been my prefered method of travel when I commute. Top to bottom, the gate agents, pilots, flight attendants, baggage handlers...whomever it is I talk to, have always been more than accomodating.

It was a half full airplane by the time we got on, thru flight, "A" group, lots of families in front of us. I don't care about sitting up front since I usually wait until everyone is off before I try to move the kids/car seat/carry ons etc...I just want four seats together. After the FA moved some around we all sat together. To top it all off, an extremely obese man squished his way into the isle seat next to us. I don't mind the circus when I DH alone, but the stress of being seperated from the gear/kids etc. will lead me to look elsewhere if the price is close. I'm not waiting in the "A" cattle line either with two kids under 5. Maybe the number system will help a little. Then again I printed off my boarding passes the day before and still got "B".

This new Boarding process is bad go back to the A,B, C lines. I was in DAL taking a flight was given B-34 So I'm standing in My group waiting and all of the sudden I start seeing poeple with B-40 thru B55 numbers cutting in front of me and the gate agent isn't doing anything. I was in Uniform and I finally yelled out to those people to get in line behind me.

Looking at the quality of People SWA gets for Passengers I wouldn't be surprised if a Fight breaks out over something like this if it continues to happen.

If there's one thing people hate its standing in Lines and waiting but add having people cutting in front of you and that's how fights break out.

I told the lead FA about what happened to me and she just looked at me like I was some Nonrev Pilot that should be thankful to have a seat. Thankfully for myself My company doesn't buy to many tickets for me on SWA. You guys are a great company to work for or own stock in but to fly on it's a cattle car.

Purple dog...there are many choices out there! Go fly one of them.
I probably will look elsewhere when I fly with the kiddos as I suspect many other families now will if the price is right. Thanks for the great advice though, very thoughtful of you.
