Any SWA pilots out there heard anything regarding the following rumor?

Up in Anchorage, they are currently building a new terminal. I have heard that SWA already has the rights to some of the gates in the new terminal. Any truth to this? If they do have plans to go up north, where will they fly out of to get up there - SEA or possibly OAK? If you do go up there, it'll definitely give Alaska a run for its money.

Whenever any airports builds new gates there is always that rumor that they are for SWA. That being said when I upgraded in 2000 Herb told my upgrade class that the biggest mistake that he ever made was pulling out of ANC & COS when SWA took over Morriss.

It is true. When SW obtained Morris Air, their gates in all their cities were part of the package. We've had them but have no plans to use them for the time being. I guess we lease them out to others.

Good rumor...

Thats a new one - never heard of that rumor before.
The new terminal is 2 years behind schedule and something like 300+ million over budget.
The only rumor I have heard about the new terminal is that it will be "ours". Once it's open I don't think you will see Alaska jets on any of the A gates any more. I do know that Maintenance, ops and crew scheds all have office plans for the new terminal as well.
The Alaska counter will sport the new design of several islands rather than one big counter - the prototype is in use in ANC now.
