Spoke with Linsey today. Here's what she told me:

Confirmed no new hire classes in 4th qtr.

18 new jets in '03 and 10 - 737-200 retirements - for a net 8 jet increase.

60-70 pilot retirements in '03.

Still staffing 11 pilots per airplane.

Asked how many classes out I was. LL said "worst case, depending on class size - 6-7 classes.

Worst case? 20 per class? That would put me anywhere from 100-140 in the pool. I'm currently 75 on our unoffical list.

88 guys for the net 8 jets + 60-70 to replace retirees...148-158 new hires for '03?

Unless, of course things change....and as we know that's one thing we can count on...things will change. Let's hope they change for the better.

Still floating.

Sounds like we need to start considering building an Ark! With the upcoming war and further doom and gloom in the industry we might have to sit this one out and wait for the floods to recede in the comfort of a well-built Ark.

Anyone in? I'll head over to Home Depot.

Who knows?

I was told that even though they hated to say anything for guys like me with gills, that it might be 2nd or 3rd Q 03.
