Recent SWA New Hires & Poolies,

Trying not to get to over anxious. Lots of speculation and anticipation of the SWA interview window opening later this year/early next year. We can only hope.

Curious as to when & how you guys received the invitation to interview, and how much lead time you had to make the final prep before heading to Dallas for interviews. Are SWA interview invites done by phone or mail? Two weeks notice? Or is it, "We're interviewing on this date, can you make it?"

Appreciate the insight,

You'll get your invitation from a phone call that will make you one really happy (and later nervous as it sinks in) camper. When JM, now JB called me on 12-17(probably LL will do the calling next time around?), she offered me I think two dates during the week of January 15th and three days during the next week. I took the later week to give me more time to get ready. It's a tough call depending on how ready you feel you are at the time. On one hand, if you take the earlier date if you are prepared, if you get hired you'll be in class sooner. Had I taken the earlier week I might be going to class in May. On the other hand, if you are not so ready and take the first week and then don't do so well....
You can re-apply in two more years if they are taking apps then. So for me, I'd much rather be a little deeper in the pool than another possible alternative, waiting with baited breath for that application window to open again who knows when.
Then, to get back to your question, the phone call will be followed up by a letter with all the details, in which THEY will thank YOU again for your interest in Southwest Airlines. Hope this helps.
Good luck!

Great question, Pags (I was wondering the same things), and great info PT! Thanks!

About a week after turning in my packet, I received the "Thank you" letter from LL. Just the way it was worded really reflected the difference in corporate culture between Southwest and the rest. The letter actually made me feel GOOD, which only added to my already HUGE desire to work for what I consider to be the finest airline in the country.

Man I can't wait to have a shot at an interview!!

Thanks again for the info!!

BTW...PT where did/are you flying(ing) the Saab? I was at Mesaba for about a year...wondering if I may have run into you out there.

You got me pegged...

Been at Mesaba for just over five years now, all on the SAAB, all in DTW. I fear I've got somewhat of a reputation around here...
