Hiring pilots: Hiring projections for the coming years have been announced. SWA has announced that they will hire over 1100 pilots in the next three years.

I think most of us are hoping for half again this number, but this is what SWAPA sent me,

Man don't you ever go to work? :)

According to SWAPA

2004...430
2005...470
2006...500

= a whole hellava lota people under me ( or a whole hellava lot + 1 under ivauir)

Hmmm..

SWAPA just last week posted higher numbers than that..

If you do the math the higher numbers make sense..

The lower numbers dont make sense if you look at aircraft numbers plus retirements..

Ive also heard and seen that there will be four more aircraft delivered in 2004 out of fifteen that just became available due to other airlines dumping their orders..

One other thought comes to mind..

I think that the lower numbers will only work out if they take LESS aircraft over the next three years..

I dont see that happening with the prices of Boeings being what they are these days..

Time will tell..

Need help finding a friend at SW. His name is Mike Spurny and last time I talked to him, he was based out of ORD but wanted to "come home" to Florida. Anyone working there able to help me out? Thanks

ORD = MDW?

Yep, he is based in MDW. They call him Capt. Mike Spurny thesedays. Why don't you PM me your number and I'll pass it along to him? He might have gone home to FL but he flys out of MDW.

Great News!!!

If Indapool's numbers are correct, then there is hope for even the likes of guys like me!!! Fifteen hundred new hires over the next three years is the best news Ive heard since Barbara Striesend(sp?) said she would move out of the country If Dubya invaded Iraq!!!

Thanks to all,
Learguy

Any word on the number of activated military pilots that have come back to SWA?

Also, any more rumors out there on classes (Pilot) before the end of the year???
