With the New 65 Law that was just passed, do we expect SWA to start hiring again come the summer or does this new law push new hiring back to possibly 2009?

Capt,

If you read the last several pages of the SWA Pool thread in this forum (majors), it should answer most of your questions. Good luck and hopefully the news will improve.

Age 65 is not why SWA slowed hiring, the economy is the problem. If in 2008 the credit problem extends into spending, which it is predicted to do, no airline will be hiring, and most will be furloughing.

Yourpilotfriend. Dude. Welcome to earth.

WN would have retired about 200 in 2008. Now all we're going to do is hire for our amazingly fast growth rate of 5 jets.

So my best guess for 2008 is.................. 60. And that's on the fat side.
