Luck, skill, whatever, but they sure did good and I would imagine we all wish we had done as well:

"While Southwest has long been buoyed by an industry-leading fuel hedging program, CFO Laura Wright said Tuesday that "based on market prices today, our 2008 fuel hedge is the best hedge position we have ever had."
"The carrier currently holds hedge contracts with an estimated fair market value above $3 billion, and has about 70% of its 2007 fuel hedged at $51 a barrel, Wright said at the JPMorgan transportation conference."

Oh man...talk about beating a dead horse. We know we know TankerClown, SWA is doomed and will die once their hedges run out because they can't compete on anything else. They aren't productive, have bad management, bad fleet, poor loads, awful routes, and they don't have the friendly enthusiastic employees like the legacy carriers do.

Can't wait to hear from jke406 and Sedona16 :p

Don't forget GL. He's going to remind you SWA fools that you don't have any international operations. And since the dollar is getting beat down, you are all quite screwed. That said, when the hedges run out, you guys are going down. Get on that Delta life raft...sure they lose money, but they don't have to worry about when their hedges run out. It's a pretty sound business plan.

When the hedges run out, the ticket prices will have to go up. Or maybe all the panes will fall out of the sky... We should all buy stock in Greyhound.

Or maybe, just maybe they'll have bought more hedges .... naw that has never happened before ...

The General would still find a way to spin this story...can't wait to hear it. I am sure LBB will come up in his "I love Delta" speech in a SWA thread like it always does.

Wont be long and Delta will be bankrupt again.
