Did any SWA pilots hear about the FA that was almost suspended for wearing a union pin on her uniform during a rally in Baltimore? Apparently the company did not suspend her because they waited one day too late to impose the penalty. That seems pretty harsh don't you think? Is that typical company policy?

The employee, a nine-year Southwest veteran and former union official, had refused a manager's demand to remove a red protest button during a rally Feb. 13 at Baltimore-Washington International Airport.

yeah, its normal policy.

Wearing the union pin was not the problem. In our uniform guidelines we are permitted to wear a TWU "pin". The flight attendant in question was wearing a TWU "button" on their uniform. The suspension comes not from wearing the button but for refusing to remove it when directed to do so by management ie insubordination. That is a vioalition of a Class III Work and Conduct rule. According to the Schedule of Discipline the punishment for a Class III first offense is a 3-day suspension. It is pretty cut and dried.

B6, that is a great quote!
