NOOO

Yeah, I agree. I really hope this is incorrect b/c it will be tough to wait another couple of weeks when we thought the answer was right around the corner.

5 May Decision Board

A SWA/FO called the People Department this AM to check on this for us and the PD confirmed that the decision Board for the Apr interviews is tomorrow, 5 May, as previously advertised. Good luck to all. Poleaviator.

I hope it is the 5th! How long after the Decision Board does it usualy take for the calls to go out?

Pick me, pick me, pick me...........:p

I interviewed in March. Our DB met on a Wednesday and I got the call the following Monday (a friend got the call Tuesday). It was the longest weekend of my life. On the down side, people got letters on the following Tuesday (5 days after DB). Good luck!

Of the 12 that interviewed, 6 of us got calls to "continue", 5 got letters and one got his package moved to the next DB (nobody knows why). I'm not sure about the references getting called with those who got letters. I know one did not get his checked out. Another guy on another day had only a few references called and he got hired. I wouldn't read too much into this other than--in my opinion--getting references called is a good sign, but you may still not get hired. I know there is some confusion on this point and I don't have a good answer, just a little snapshot.

Guys,

My recollection of the process (somewhat dated info) is this:

- if you absolutely tube the interview & there is no way that they'll hire you, references probably won't be called, as the decision board is going to reject you anyway. Infrequent.
- if you do okay at the interview, then they'll call your references and the results of those conversations will be part of the info that's before the DB. This happens most of the time.
- the DB can then say "yes" or "no" based on all the info they have: resume, flying history, interview results, references, everything.

So, having references called is a good sign, though not a certain "you'll be hired" by any means.

I'd also note, that some people you'd THINK would have the common sense that God gave dirt to LET YOU KNOW that they just had a nice chat with a pilot from Southwest about you, DON'T! (Still slightly peeved at one former boss who neglected to mention that he'd had such a conversation until about a week later... sheesh, dude! A week's worth of stress you could have saved me...) Now, if you're talking to your references every day & they all are saying "nope, not a word," that's a bad sign, but the fact that they haven't called you to say "yeah, just had a chat..." doesn't necessarily mean quite as much.

Also, with the workload that the reference-checkers have right now, no telling what their backlog is; I'd give them a while before getting stressed about it... yeah, sure, easy for me to say, I know. But honestly, at least a week, probably more like 2 after the interview, before starting to worry "they should have called somebody by now." AND, if even one reference gets called, that's the good sign. The others will get called as well in that case, as workload allows.

Hope that helps.

Best wishes,

Snoopy

Oh, by the way, the guy getting move to the later DB: happens for various reasons, all of which amount to the package not being complete by the deadline for the first DB. Could be due to delays contacting references, getting records back from previous employers, delayed drug test results, or just simple administrative limits. As far as I've heard, there's nothing to be read into it... no better nor worse off for meeting a later DB.
