Yesterday I met a guy who works in the Training Center at SWA. He told me that on Thursday his boss had a budget meeting with the management at SWA. The word from the meeting was possibly one more class for 2002 and then "no more new hire classes until mid-2003". He also told me that the new simulators at SWA are part of an upgrade program and not part of any expansion program. He also told me he thought the new 737's that SWA is getting at bargain prices might just end up parked at Mojave or replace the 737-200's. He did say that the upper management tended to spout "doom and gloom" quite often, but he honestly doesn't see any plans for growth in the next 6-9 months.
