Since I'm packing for the March 1st run to DAL, here's what I'm wondering:

1. Should I pack a coat? (or just wear the leather if you get it early on) How do you haul all that stuff home from training that they give you? How many bags can you check? (Res gal said only 2, but Coop showed me from the website is says 3....) Do we get the new uniforms/leather jacket in class, or do they ship it to your house?

2. Anyone bring a laptop to class? Or is it just not worthwhile for all the pain of hauling it around? I was thinking it might help to have for the study CD, plus checking out all the stuff at SWA online (like the SWAPA site that tells you when you are going to upgrade), and checking email on the weekends.

3. My wife wants to know what to wear on the plane, at the party, and for the first two days. "Business casual" is ever so vague.

4. What to those big red handles do?

Thanks!

Interview suit or some suit for the first two days. After that, khaki's/nice jeans & shirts/polo or collared shirts will do after the first two days.

Not that much to haul back except for books & uniforms. You can ship as much as you'd like home. Get a box from the company, seal it up & ship it on the plane when you go home, no big deal.
You can check as many bags as you want, you're an employee. You can carry on the airplane 3 if you are going to/from work. New uniforms/jacket in time for IOE, leather jacket not in time. They ship it to your house or wherever you'd like it shipped to.

Nice to have with the highspeed access in the hotel, keep up the communications at home. Not required at work, if you use it to study, then go for it. Access to the other SWA websites is a plus but you'll be busy enough swallowing the hose with all the other info you wouldn't miss it if you didn't have it but for those occasions where it slows down or you need a distraction, yes they are nice.

Pants suits, cocktail dress is good for the first day, slightly less formal the 2nd day when they go on tours & such. Sorry, my choice of words probably doesn't help you much but at least you can tell her you asked. I hope to be at the new hire party but if not I'll check in later in the week. You can tell her chase doesn't know woman's fashions...just ask my wife, she'll confirm that!! Welcome & congrats to all of you.

Hey PT,

Didn't realize you had a class date at SWA. Congratulations! Maybe I'll see you around campus some day.

Thanks, Lowlycfi!

I too hope to see you around. My MDW buddy said he commuted in tonight and they already had the list of all our names, ages, sim partners, and order of seniority posted in there. He even told me what my employee # is going to be. Yikes! I'm packing faster now...
